Yoder is bright and intelligent and plays the game well. He whines that Washington spends, borrows and taxes too much. And he is right to do so. But I have NO confidence that he is going to change that. Or that he will even try. He says he represents something other than the status quo for this country. But the clear reality is, he is a career politician, and it's his career he cares about, not yours.

What kind of fiscal accountability can we expect from him? Consider this: as a state representative he voted to revise financial disclosure regulations so that perks given by lobbyists would be excluded from the public record. But the bill failed, and now we know that so far this year he is the number one recipient of lobbyist gifts in the entire state legislature.

He can talk about reckless spending all he wants, but how much will he spend to get elected? Hey! It’s not his money: it’s the money of the special interests’ that will expect him to represent their special ambitions if he wants to continue with his special ambition. Sorry, but this is just the same ol’ same ol’ of career politics. If we vote him into office we will be stuck with him for a very long time.

Seriously, what has Kevin done besides run for office and play politics?
Stephene, has pursued her education and career as a professional nurse, focusing much of her energy in the field of high risk obstetrics: this is not a field of practice for the faint of heart. Or the weak of mind. She also has a clear history of contributing her personal time and money (as well as her professional competency) for medical mission trips outside of the country and with many local charitable and service organizations. To mindless attribute her political interests as if she were a clone of her husband, ignores the very real world where women CAN have thoughts and ideals that differ from their spouses. It is 2010.

Kevin support of special interests doesn’t stop with lobbyists. He also voted against a proposal to require identification of contributors that fund “issue” ads during election campaigns. Never mind that earlier in his career, he co-sponsored legislation to require such disclosure, noting that “People have a right to know in Kansas who trying to influence our elections” because “that can only seek to enhance democracy.”

Did you know that Yoder first rented an apartment in Johnson County on 6/12/02 and filed to run for the House of Representatives in the county just two two days later on 6/14/02. And that by the end of July he had already raised over $12,336 on his campaign.(Even though he didn't have a job yet.)
These funds came from 58 different contributors in 8 different states: only 10 of the contributors even lived within the district in which he was running. And the very first contributor identified on his official “receipts report” was the Republican State Representative from an adjacent district.

At the time he was elected to the House he had never even paid a penny in property taxes in the county. How representative is that?

He's a career politician already in debt to powerful interests. He could hardly care less about YOUR career.(Same ol, same ol.)

Stephene Moore has prioritized public education: encouraging solutions at the local level while opposing unfunded federal mandates.(Yoders policies are hardly education friendly, and poorly represented the best interests of his own house district. But he had bigger ambitions.)

Stephene Moore favors developing clean energy technologies and the associated domestic jobs. Thus conserving natural resourses and reducing our dependence upon unreliable and unfriendly foriegn influences.(Kevin, indifferent to a significant number of his districts constituents, supports the building of coal fired power plants in western Kansas, to supply electricity to Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming: all states who voted to deny the construction there. These ultra modern COAL plants will bring a brief boom to local communities while the specialty construction companies race in and out with their own specialized crews. And onnce up and running, these high tech plants will employ few locals. But make BIG MONEY for Kevin's benifactors.)

Stephene Moore will vote to sustain the recently passed health care legislation. She has also pledged to use her considerable professional experience to seek to lower the cost of health care for families and businesses while advocating for greater preventive health care measures. Kevin wants to repeal the legislation.(Kevin wants to tear it all down and start the debate all over again from scratch. And claw and gouge and spend...)

As for the economy, Stephene Moore has publicly expressed support for tax breaks to small businesses, supporting initiatives for clean energy and associated job training programs that strengthen our economy and sustain our competitive advantage in the global economy. And reducing government waste.(but everyone says that!) She has also suggested that the Bush era tax cuts should be extended, even for the wealthiest 5%.

This last item is one that I personally oppose:- extending the tax cut to the wealthiest that is - Both Stephene Moore and Kevin support this.(Moore "temporarily," Kevin permenantly.) I happen to agree with Robert Reich,(he wrote a book too! Several in-fact.) that the evidence is clear that the fiscal divide between the super rich and middle class is blosseming: and that this extra benefit for the super rich only invites foriegn investment - NOT the creation of domestic jobs- and financial speculation that is consistent with the wall street practices that led OUR nation to the brink of disaster.)

Seriously, what this country needs are people willing to engage in intellegent and civil dialog. Stephene Moore and kevin are both intellegent & capable people: I happen to believe that one will represent the best interests of (we) the people of the third district and the other will represent the best interests of his deep pocket benefactors.

Evil greedy republicans have done their level best to destroy the middle class. My grandfather who lived through the great depression of the thirties, always said, the dirty republicans are for the rich and powerful only. He was 100% right about republicans then and now.

Republicans are anti American. They hate America and all our freedoms.

republicans don't hate America. They think they own it.

What they hate, and in fairness that may be too strong a word, fear may be more acurate, are people who don't think like them: people who sincerely consider the needs of others and this planet that we depend upon.
