I see all these commenting about skeletons in the closet, hugh credit card bills and some implying Larry was cruising for men. Does anyone have any real facts to share, or are people just blowing smoke. Just say it if there's something you know about him or his family. I couldn't be any worse than the stuff we make up since we have no facts.

Curious, they're just blowing smoke because right now, that is more interesting than getting NOTHING FROM THE FAMILY.

Ok, a month is enough. The community came behind this family, searching, helping, praying. Now they do not want to tell us what happened. What about the people living near SM park, what about the people who walked for hours, what about the entire community who put up pictures, asked questions, what about them. All these people are owed the truth, no matter what it is. I agree what happened you might want to keep private, but you brought the public into it, at least honor their efforts.

All those people were simply trying to find a missing man...that was their effort.
They were not out trying to find out why he went missing...that's your effort.
Owed the truth? Did the man or his family lie about why he went missing?

I agree with People Person. Stop trying to figure it out. Sometimes the community is asked to help. You help and then move on. Let this man and his family have the privacy they had before the event.
It would not be a good deed if you help and then keep butting into their lives.

Judging has been so harsh in what I've read. The news actually said he had been drinking water from fountains along the trail and ate food from the trash. Anyone out there ever stop to think he may have gotten a water bottle from the trash and filled it. Please stop and think. If this were a family member of yours - how would you handle the situation? You can say what you want but the sad thing is we don't know and won't know until we are placed in that situation, God forbid. Why would anyone choose to hide in a local public park if they were running away from something. They would go to New Orleans & get lost in the crowd like the "family man" did a few years ago. Let's give the man and his family a break. Someday we'll know the truth.

Just Me wrote: <quoted text> I didn't see sour grapes. It's true... ask someone who works there - the company is getting rid of people 55-60 with long term employment. And, has laid off ("retired") a number of senior mgr's. FYI - Hallmark matches the first 5% of employee savings - and just started a 401K program not that long ago. Different from profit sharing plans that have been in place a number of years. Just Me is right. I am another victim of the housecleaning Hallmark did of their employees who had been with them over 20 years (aka, the ones making the most money and could be replaced with someone for a fraction of their salary) April 2008 for me too.. must have been a good month for them! I was warned by a friend in another department about 4-5 yrs ago that it was happening and to watch my back. I watched coworkers dropping like flies. What I didn't expect was the underhanded and dirty methods they would use to get rid of you if you didn't go easily. For me it included 1)A benefits administrator lying and saying my doctor called them regarding my health. Little did they expect my doctor to be pissed off enough to really give them a phone call and tell them what he thought of their behavior. 2) Same admin denying one of my benefits and when questioned, lying and saying that I requested the benefit to be cancelled. When asked to present some kind of written document requesting the cancellation, of course they couldn't.(by the way, this person is still in their position today.. nice huh?) 3) Allowing me to be harassed, demeaned and threatened physically by a subordinate, telling me I "had to take it" because it's okay since I'm their boss and they only reprimand people for harassment when the person doing the harassing is higher up than the victim. People were literally worried for my life due to this person's actions and threats yet Hallmark deemed it "okay". I had to threaten to bring a lawyer into it to get this person fired, and even then was told I had to go through Hallmark's mediation process. When I told them their mediator could discuss it with my lawyer, they suddenly changed tunes and this person was fired. After this it seemed to be one thing after another.. threats of being fired if you didn't accomplish things that were impossible or way out of your control. Example: How can you meet a goal of selling 450 items when there are only 150 of them to sell? You better figure it out or you'll be punished "up to and including termination" - their favorite saying at that time! I tried to stick with it because I loved my job - well, the old job before this started - and I loved the people I worked with. The stress piled up higher and higher until a manageable illness I was dealing with became unmanageable due to being inflamed by stress and me pushing myself. I kept trying though, until my doctors point blank told me to quit or I'd be dead within a year. So yeah, the 401K was nice, but it goes fast paying COBRA and other bills when you try to keep your head above water. It especially doesn't cover the cost of what you lose when you realize the damage you've done to yourself has gotten so far that you are now permanently disabled. There is a reason why Hallmark got rid of their most famous slogan "When you care enough to send the very best". It's because sadly, there isn't a whole lot of care left in that company.
