The Herald endorses

The Heralds Yes endorsement of Measure I could have been written by Carmel Mayor Sue McCloud herself for all its false and inaccurate assumptions and information. Multiple individuals and organizations have used the Flanders Mansion in the past and it is only in the last decade Sue McCloud refused to continue that tradition and myopically crusaded for its sale. As to paying for maintenance, the cost is nothing compared to the cost of defending lawsuits where the city has broken laws. And the statement about no cash behind them; the public does not know that because Sue McCloud has not allowed any discussion about it. And that is the whole point: Sue McCloud has decided what the public can know and what the public cannot know- The Herald just does get it or maybe Joe and Royal are regurgitating propagandists who care more about one mayor than all their readers.

This is no time for new taxes.

AND WHAT WILL BE THE COST OF GIVING THE SALINAS CITY COUNCIL A BLANK CHECK - FOREVER?

That is in fact what will happen if Measure K passes. It is difficult to believe that the Herald endorsed Measure K in light of their being no sunset clause and the fact that it is nonbinding - the money raised goes into the general fund and can be spent for anything, as was the case of Measure V (most of which was spent on salary increases for city employees).

The Herald ? Enough said ! They endorse any and all tax and spend measures. And anyone running for any office if they have a (D) behind their name.
