A little harsh Osama, but given the circumstances, accurate. I drive city streets and expressways every day. Unfortunately, everyone is in a huge hurry, racing to get where they're going, putting innocent people in harms way. I've been nearly run off the road and sideswiped and pushed into truck traffic so many times I can't remember. Whether legal or illegal citizens, people need to pay attention, relax a little and when caught tailgating or driving like an "a hole" get thrown in jail. That's slow em down. Regarding the guy with no license causing the death of this poor guy, I hope he gets the maximum penalty, I'm surprised that we didnt hear that he was drunk too.

Jason, I agree, there's more to this story regarding this guy's citizenship. Bill O'Reilly would love this story, illegal alien without a license driving like an idiot, killing an innocent driver.

Like this is something new? My dear friends son was killed 1986 on Cicero Avenue Memorial day weekend by an illegal from Mexico. You can guess the rest..no insurance, no license, etc.. Lawless POS!!!!!

Story says: "The driver of the Durango, Juan Sanchez, 28, of Joliet was ticketed for driving without a license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, "
No mention of insurance.

Smart thinking. He should have been ticketed for that, too. We need to toughen-up our laws. Mandatory jail time and steep fines for driving without a license are long over-due. My heart goes out to the innocent victim's family.

Notice that this is being investigated by Cook County Sheriff's Police. I'm hoping this case doesn't disappear with a slap on the wrist and just allowing the driver to go back to work, business as usual.

Sure to be downgraded to a 6-112, no D/L on person! What a joke our laws have become. BUT! the lady (undocumented immigrant) that got caught at the Elgin casino gets TWO felony charges against her!!! The real victims suffer the most while the suspects get off w/ a light slap! Condolences to the deceased.

Yes Jason lets hear the REAL story, that although tragic you fail to mention that the Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed on a rain soaked highway, that Mr. Bato after passing the durango realized that traffic was stopped because one of the stopped cars was making a left turn, that he narrowly missed the third car and when he came to a stop he stopped at an angle and was clipped by the durango and that WAS how he ended up facing on coming traffic, yes it is a tragedy for all involved and all of us who witnessed the horrible accident, nowhere in this article is there a mention of Juan being an illegal, not everyone with out a licence is illegal , but everyone without a licence should not drive period.

This Juan guy needs to pay for what he did to this innocent driver. He probably another illegal alien in our country. I feel for the family that lost a loved one. I hope Juan will remember what happened everyday of his life!

So his job is to rear end other motorists into oncoming traffic and killing them?! Huh?! What?! Really, that's his job? I think you're lying to me. I have searched Career Builder and I can't find any listings for motorist crushing, car shifting into oncoming traffic specialist, anywhere!!!!

Ah Illinois, the sanctuary state! Let's see, no license, whose car was Juan driving? I assume no insurance. Illegal? Maybe a felon? Don't ask Juan any questions that might offend. He has rights you know. Involuntary manslaughter? Oh, you say Juan has gone back to Mexico? Don't worry, he'll be back! This makes me want to puke! Picture our beautiful country in 20 years. What has happened to right & wrong? We have a serious cancer in our nation thanks to our politicians? Write your congressman. This insanity needs to stop!

Co-worker of Bob Bato
|
I worked with Bob Bato for many years and am deeply saddened by this tragic accident that took his life. I've never known him to be reckless behind the wheel. In fact, he worked in the safety department of a trucking company. Yes, Juan Sanchez should be held fully accountable for his actions. Unfortunately, that will not bring Bob back but may save the life of the next motorist.

If they would send all these illegals home stuff like this wouldn't happen. Why is this country so afraid to do that?

How is your Father's Day going so far, Juan? Did you DRIVE to your dad's to celebrate with him? You have taken this day away from Bob's family for the rest of their lives. Yes, Bob's co-worker, he was a very gentle man. There was nothing reckless about him. He was a loving father & grandfather & would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it! Bob's house was also broken into since the accident! Will this insanity never end?

Tougher laws

Doesn’t it seem a little wrong that a person who is possibly an illegal alien driving without a license in the United States is let out of jail on a one-hundred dollar bond? Did it not dawn on the lawmakers while they were drafting this law that such a parasite in this situation just might flee back to his or her country to avoid any charges while out on their one-hundred dollar bond!?! Did it also slip their minds that these same parasites will most likely return to the United States and be back on our roads driving without a license again? Will another life be taken, and what will the penalty be like the second time...perhaps a one-hundred dollar bond again????
Also, I would hardly call Juan rear ending Bob Bato Sr. an accident…in no way was it an accident that Juan decided to get in his 1999 Dodge Durango and drive that day! This needs to be factored into all situations involving a driver with no license!!!!!
My heart goes out to the family of Bob Bato Sr. and also to the truck driver that was unfortunate enough to be involved.

$100 bond? That's nuts. For that amount, why even bother with bonds.
