The Panther Valley School Board can be a real scream

Paul, you hit the nail right on the head!(as usual). While Mickey Angst is by no means innocent of shenanigans when it advances his own agenda, he is more right than wrong when it comes to issues like the Sunshine Law, which was enacted for a reason. It is embarrassing for me to admit that I am a Panther Valley resident, and send my kids to Panther Valley--I wish I could afford to move to another district, one that takes education more seriously. I think their solicitor ruled that Angst could be banned on the grounds that he is disruptive, not on the grounds that he is wrong--because he isn't wrong. He sees violations, conflicts of interest, etc., and he calls them on it, and they can't stand that. I do not like Mickey Angst personally, mainly because he is often too self-serving and too much a political animal (to him, the ends always justify the means, no matter what). If only he could be less so, he'd be able to accomplish so much more for the citizens of this district.

i think that there are two good school board directors. When will the school board start looking in the mirror and understand that they are the problem with the school district. the buck stops here! I don't even think every schoold board member owns real-estate. I could be wrong.
The sunshine law is there to protect constituants of the panther valley school district. In no way should the directors have closed door meetings. And wether you like mickey or not. He did the correct thing.
How many school board directors have bachelor degree's???
Isn't education one of the most important things we as a community give our child. Although it's the familly's responsibility to make sure homework is done. papers are finished on time. We as tax payers have a responsibility to help.
Why is it that most graduates from panther valley from the 70's and 80's have left our humble pv area. no jobs. who fault is that ??? What has keith mcCall been doing for us. 2.5 million $$$$ going to the square in jim thorpe. millions of $$$ going to a new pv football stadium??? I guess we get who we vote for.

Paul is entirely correct. Angst is an eighty-something year old bag of wind. He buffaloes the Geritol generation that listens to that whiners' radio show, "Air Your Opinion" (hosted by Mark Marek), but better known as the "Mark and Mickey Show". Angst does nothing but bring up history of past school board decisions that he disagrees with, and has contributed zilch since reelected. He complains when one director's son is hired, but doesn't say a thing about his buddy director, Tom Shober, whose relative was hired.

2. Besides being a caller, he has not ties to the current Air Your Opinion Show.
3. He does not cover the meetings for the station.

Next time, Mr. Carpenter, get your facts straight before you write your column. This is a joke and embarrissment to the Morning Call news room. A real journalist/columnist would investigate something prior to make such false statements like the one's mad in this article. You are an embarrissment to your paper, newsroom, and editorial department!

There are so many things wrong in the PV school district, that just a small amount of time investigating would uncover, it's hard to believe that no one has uncovered the serious shortcomings. With a board and administration that are a JOKE it's easy to see that the district is going nowhere fast. I wonder what real estate in Tamaqua is going for???

Amazing, it appears that there are no good school boards. Everyone of them are building things that are not necessary or renovating buildings that are not in need of renovation, teachers going on strike, superintendents looking for more money(and the kids are failing), RAPES not reprted in some schools, etc. And it just isn't here, it seems to be state wide. If you want better school boards, RUN.

The answer, as was the past, is not to demean the elected members, but ask how we can improve our education and lifestyle now? Anyone in social hierarchy education understands that an educational system's success depends on industry and importance of family identity. Where is the district's economic and social needs in comparison to others?

Rumors have it that The Bus Stop in Nesquehoning the one across from Turkey Hill was moved due to a school board member didn't want the children on newly renovated property they own, now the children must cross the main drag without a crossing gaurd.So who is actually out for themselves it isn't the ones who care about our children now is it!!!!! Who is going to watch the property at night when the others hangout there???

With the PSSA scores so low for the district, I agree with Mr. Hiles that the school should be closed down on October 1st. Don't force the kids to spend the day not being educated at school. Don't force the taxpayers to fund this district any longer. Shut the doors, fire the "teachers" and leave the kids to fend for themselves. Anything is better that this terrible school system.

Look at you, you can't even write! Not all kids are poor students. The teachers do the best they can. What happens when the kids go home? My son has had straight A's his whole elem. education. The lazy no working people who have kids just to get more welfare are the ones to blame. Taxes payers fund the lazy people food, water, clothes- tell them to get off their lazy a$s and get a job or read a book to the kids.
