Bloomberg Says Gun Show Dealers Often Violate Law

Full story: www.nytimes.com

In one video, a man trying to buy a gun at a gun show in Ohio tells the dealer that he probably couldn’t pass a background check. The dealer, smiling, says that does not matter, “Because I wouldn’t pass either, bud. In another video, this time at a gun show in Nashville, a man asks a female friend to buy a Glock handgun on his behalf, in what appears to be violation of federal law. Instead of asking the actual buyer to fill out the paperwork, the dealer...

You don't even know what the "gun show loophole" is. This article is poorly written and doesn't even attempt to hide it's bias.

Yep, you're right as far as this article.

Isn't it cool how NY funded investigators to purchase weapons outside of NY so they could say, look how they don't follow our laws in other states?

You should not be able to go to a gun show, and purchase a weapon, without following the law like at any other gun retailer.

I would like to know why in many instances, New York is operating in other states?

This is a public insult to law enforcement in Nevada, Ohio and Tennessee as if law enforcement in those states cannot or do not do these investigations themselves.

I think they do but have their reason to keep it quiet then here comes Bloomberg giving the impression that law enforcement in other states are not doing their jobs.

Notice two things, one being that far too often New York is stepping on the turf of other states and two, not one thing that Bloomberg did actually assisted in removing an illegal weapon from the hands of a criminal in New York.

Yes, the criminals who possessed an illegal or illegally purchased firearm in New York still had them when Bloomberg finished these operations on the turf of other states.

A four-month investigation didn't effect any real time criminals in New York.

Obviously resources well spent.

Look at this:

http://www.gunshows-usa.com/new_york_gun_show...

Look at all these gun shows in new York FOR EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR for January 2009 through January 2010 and I can't find a reference of New York cops or other investigators making one gun show bust.

Why blame New York's problems on other states?

If guns are that easy to get the criminals are not going to go out of their way to go to a gun show in another state.

I think other states should turn the tables on Bloomberg by investigating and busting New York gun sellers that way Bloomberg has his turn at bat took look like an inefficient and inferior jurisdiction.

Guns are being illegally (under Federal law) in those states; and illegally brought across state lines to be sold to murderers in NY.

Because these murderers could not purchase the guns themselves, the sellers and transporters are accesseries to the murders committed with that gun.

The NY police are not making cases, although they could. They are pointing to serious violations of Federal Law which have a direct effect on the streets of NY.

They are operating within the law; and probably have had notified their counterparts in the states where the crimes took place.

Why would you insult law enforcement in Nevada, Ohio and Tennessee ?
These police are good and hard working; and do not deserve your insults/

Tell me...

- What loophole?

Blommberg is a multi-millionaire who buys power and legislation. If he weren't a Liberal, he would be despised by the Left.

But, since his abuses benefit the Democrats...no problem.

I didn't.

As if New York gun shows are not a source of guns for criminals in New York right? Yeah. Why would a criminal go out of their way to go to another state to get what they can get just the same at a New York gun show?

Clean up your own house first before pointing a finger at others. In other words, make busts at New York gun shows and plaster the results all over the national media.

Guns are being transported across state lines in ALL states but the impression is given that all gun roads lead to New York, not Detroit or L.A. of Chicago's south side where things are far worse than in New York.

Links and sources?

Fact is:
The Left is in favor of trampling State's Rights when banning guns.

However, the Left is suddenly crying "State's Rights!" now that pro-2nd Amendment people are trying to pass a national, uniform, "right-to-carry" law.

The Left wants a dependent, unarmed, vulnerable populace - plain and simple. They only care about rights and laws they can use and abuse.

Bloomberg paid off the bums to leave New York .
Its ok for RObert Dinero to get a concealed carry permit though.

The woman who bought the Glock at the show was entirely within her rights as was the dealer.
Many shows do not allow video equipment of any kind and anyone caught wearing a wire would be thrown out
immediately.

Wonder what kind of glock she bought?

OH ....it probably had a new york trigger HAHAHAHAHA

you are completely paranoid. I suggest you have an evaluation before you go near a gun.

This article is about broken federal laws; aansd illegal gun sales.

There is nothiong about yourr assumptions of "what the left wants."

Stopping murders tramples nobody's rights; nor does it affect your fringe campaigns.

So, the Mayor of New York, violates federal law and sends agents of his city (who have absolutely no authority outside of his city)who in turn acted in violation of federal laws and the laws of the states in which they illegally attempted to purchase firearms...

That, you have no problems with.
