Are you saying that the city had to have money in order to get the grant? And if so, why so much money? Or was that for the whole project of the round-about. I'm lost again and I'm not understanding, please explain.

So much bickering about an issue that is for public safety. Actually the lights we purchased through a state grant. We paid 75,000 into the project and state covers the rest. The lights were planned at the same time as the roundabout. There are necessary for safety issues. If you visit city hall you can educate yourself about this project.

I agree.
Can you check your legal news?

No one is disputing anything you say, and no one is denying that it is a public safety issue. But, as you said, WE (Leesville taxpayers) paid $78,000 into the project and WE had absolutely no input at all. And, as far as I can determine, our "representatives" on City Council had no input either. <quoted text>

i remember a different thread about the round about, i am almost certain someone complained about it not having lights~lights? i dont understand that why would you put lights there, i must be very confused? the city pipes~ i lived in an area that was annexed by the city. we were on well water when we were annexed i was given so many years to get on city water and do everything in their accordance at my expense. i did not wish to be annexed and i did not want city water at the cost of $8200.00. i would re-evaluate your gripe on the city water. i understand your position but it could back fire. they have every right to raise your taxes or require you to pay for the improvments. does it need to be addressed~yes but it takes money. what do you propose?

They don't have no right to raise our water to the point where they are robbing us. No they don't. They are elected to represent the wishes of the citizens. We have to start speaking up like people in every parish in the nation do. No one speaks up, thats the problem. When they raised the parking tickets to 239 dollars, we started to talk about it on here, some of these people justified that ignorance with all kind of responses to me. One said they have 4 million cars in New York so they can charge 25 dollars. Others say, don't illegal park. Two weeks later the council repealed the ordinance saying it was too steep. We are in a terrible place here in Leesville. Some think one side of the tracks are nice and the other side is the dumps. I am ashame to go down 1st street, its horrible. We are planting trees and ferns downtown to leave to our children and grandchildren.

I see one little guy on what look to be a rental from stine, backhoe, working on the lights at the turnabout. And you say these lights gonna cost, how much? Over a half million dollars? Come on, give me a break. I was born in the morning, but not this morning. Water bills sky high, economy messed up all over america, and we are spending over a half million dollars on some lights. Its a good thang I can't vote, cause I would vote their tails out of there. I guess Rose have the same scheme as the Downtown committee. Display morden and fancy lights, leading into a Historic atmosphere. Come out of that ol 1800 outhouse and see those 21st century lights, blaring brightly, it gives you that " aw " feeling. They had wood poles in the 1800's. Why we didn't use wood poles to really give it that old fashion feeling? We could have gotten some 50 gallon drums, cut the top off, paint them, and sat them on the streets. We could have even had an artist to draw different wild scenery on the cans. Now that's 1800. They wouldn't let me give no input.

On a couple of occasions I have allowed my emotions to get involved and used some words that was fitting for those it was directed at, but inappropriate for topix. For that, I would like to extend my deepest apology to all of you. And promise not to get angry any more.
