I called the hotline to get the free patches. For any smoker wanting to quit, it's an easy phone call. Simply answer a few questions and they send you the patches. Very helpful if you want to quit...doesn't hurt to try! And if you don't succeed...try...try...again.

99% of those who try just attempt to appease other people and have no intention of quitting. Why would anyone support such a waste of funds? I dont smoke, but if its so dam bad, go after the tobacco companies.

If you never smoked than I guess you have no right assuming what smokers "intentions" are for quitting. Are you telling me you don't know one person that is a past smoker? There are people out there that want to quit for themselves, this could help them. Stop being so darn negative!

Quit on your own. Im a self admitted alcoholic and I never burdened the state financially to kick the habit. Programs like this are just job creators or justifications and thus another level of useless beaurocracy.

I applaud you. But I think sending out a $50 supply of patches to someone interested enough to call for is not a burden but an encouragement. Something we all need in our lives.

Send them $50 worth of patches so they can buy
10-$5 scratch tickets and give it back to the state?

Then the lucky SOB's will hit a $1,000,000 and smoke themselves to death, so what good would it do?

Nope, sorry, I don't buy scratch tickets. I'm just someone who was unfortunate to start smoking in college because of social reasons and have struggled with quitting for sometime. I just thought it was beneficial to me to get the patches and thought I would pass that along to other smokers. About the only thing I've ever received from my government. Call me nieve and stupid!

I guess thats a matter of how you see the glass. Half full or half empty. I try to take the positive approach.

I do agree there will be some people that will take advantage of this, just as it is with anything else. But, on the other side.....of the glass half full....some will benefit.

Just think...if you didn't have all these evil smokers, the socialist do-gooders wouldn't have a job.
