Holding the school board for ransom?! Give me a break dude! There wouldn't be a court case if the school would just put aside their bigotry and allow the club.

Hey, thanks for bloating the thread with links and copy.
Read what you wrote; it's basically: "Do what we say or face a long and expensive court battle.".
THAT'S BLACKMAIL!
Hmmmm, you mean everyone that threatens to take someone to court because they are doing something illegal is blackmail?

Interesting.

Most school boards allow the FCA club (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) even though there has long been establised the seperation between Church and State - then why not allow this club. It not like they're out recruiting (not that's it's even possible) but I'm sure that what a lot of people think. If a muslim group of kids wanted to meet so they could come together we would have the argument that school is not the appropriate place for religious gatherings - but then again, I refer back to the FCA Club.

Your argument is "The ACLU has won every case involving inclusion of GSAs; therefore any community objecting to GSAs in their schools should just lay down and take it".
It doesn't have anything to do with laying down and taking it. The ACLU has multiple legal precedents on their side that no federal court is going to tamper with. The school board is, in effect, blackmailing themselves because they already knew the probable outcome going into this case. Therefore, any monetary losses they incur are all just part of agreeing to participate in the lawsuit. If they hadn't denied a harmless club in the first place, they wouldn't be facing a legal challenge that has been won multiple times already. But oh well, they chose to break the law, now they reap the rewards of that misguided decision. The GSA is a club with the simple mission of promoting tolerance of and safety for gay youth in an educational setting.

It's not that hard to wrap even the smallest of minds around.

No, it's more like, "Obey the federal and constitutional laws or face litigation." How is forcing someone to obey the law blackmail?

I can assure you I'm no Fundamentalist, as you'd like to pigeonhole me (among other things). And as for hypocrisy, how do you explain your espousing "tolerance" while name calling?

Now why don't YOU go wrap one of your organs around something?
Begone (not Be gone), figot.
It would sound to me if they've won every case then the odds are they are following the laws and the people they represent are within their legal rights to have a GSA. Not every judge is going to rule in their favor JUST because they are the ACLU. I would say the judges are just ruling on what is the law. No one says people have to like gays but they do have certain inalienable, federal, human, civil, and constitutional rights.

These are great points. What makes a Christian club more worthy to have than a gay-straight club is the question everyone should ask? The Christian clubs discuss sexual orientation and sexual issues as well. The ACLU has brought this up in court the other day.

And when Nassau County School Board loses they just raise our county taxes. The county and the school board are already hurting for money and they keep continuing to have to make budget cuts. Now we can't afford to have cops in our schools. The superintendent, for a Republican, is a wasteful spender. So much for their talk about being against "wasteful spending." It's only considered "wasteful" when it doesn't suit their purpose or go into their personal wallets. Greedy and immoral is more like it.

What about Obama? What does he have to do with this? You just mention his name and think we are supposed to know what you are talking about. You weren't even replying to anyone's question either.

I call on all students of Nassau, Duval, Baker, Camden (GA), and Charlton (GA) counties reading this to start your own Gay-Straight Alliance club on campus if you wish. There is a federal law stating you can have one: the Equal Access Act. It is also protected in the first amendment. If your school refuses one contact the ACLU (www.aclu.org ).

Check out these websites on how to start one:

The same law that made public school, student led Buybull clubs legal made gay/str8 alliances legal, too.

Tough luck, talibangelicals.

Oh yeah, Cletus, str8 teens have no interest in sexuality, either.

The heterosexual lifestyle choice of str8 teens doesn't mean we can restrict their rights by eliminating public dating, proms, classes in sex ed (which are all too often "abstinence" misundereducation." All the women these str8 men rape probably don't like it, but that's the law - we can't squelch all discussion of the disordered, str8 lifestyle choice.

Gay is all about Sexuality. Would it be appropriate to have a Beastiality club on campus? Both are Perverse. The school is correct to deny the formation of a club when the entire basis is a perverse lifestyle.
The American Psychological Association disagrees with your pervert statment on homosexuals. Where did you get the information or proof that homosexuality is a perversion. Please specify and provide something backed up by a medical or psychology organization that states this theory via hyperlinks, etc. I don't see how a club promoting gays and straights getting along and curbing bullying is in any way sexual or perverse or anything compared to beastiality.
