Yea, too bad Bob didn't get in. He's got a lot of Class and Intelligent (college degree). Two of the many things he could have brought to the table. Good Luck next time Bob.

I suppose the council and mayor think that they got the last laugh by keeping their cronies and drinking buddies in office ..... actually they are the last laugh and a big joke. Everyone is laughing behind their backs most of the time anyway.

I can not believe that Bob Hathaway did not get elected into office.
To me he was the only real canidate that cares and was willing to go the extra mile.
I guess this town does not see his value, however I do and wish him nothing but the best and hope he gives it another try. Please!!
Maybe if he ran on the republican ticket he would win.

Does anyone know the number of people who are eligible to vote in Netcong? I love to see how it corresponds with the number of people who actually voted. Just curious.

all the firemen came out for T&A and EK. they stick together and get special treatment. plus all the old netcong people come out each and every time a local boy runs. T&A hooked her cart to the right horse. that is the only way she won.

In a small town, family and personal relationships win elections, not merit. Because he wasn’t born and raised here, many people in Netcong would never vote for an “outsider” like Bob Hathaway. This year being a democrat didn’t help him either.

Congratulations to the winners, but please don’t think we are necessarily happy with the direction of this town or the job you are doing. Mr. Hathaway, you deserve a ton of credit for stepping up to the plate and standing up for what you believe. It takes guts to run in a place like Netcong. You would be an asset to the Council and I hope you run again.

Bob should in some capacity be involved with the council...even if they have to invent a position for him!! It would only help this town and give some much needed insight and an educated first and even second opinion to the areas in which he knows much about!! He will still be continued to be looked up to and admired and respected for all the work he does here!!

I would like to know just what do you people want or expect from a council? What is wrong with the way the town is going? Why didn't all the little league moms and Dads support Bob he was always there for you when you needed him?
Why are you always on the council, look at the services you receive for 3o% of the budget. You don't say to much about the money the schools spend.Bob deserved to win but he did'nt,if he changes parties he can beat cissy next year. It's a shame but she is taking advantage of the council and the residents of Netcong

What do you mean "she is taking advantage of the council and the residents of Netcong"??

I, too , believe that if Bob switches parties he can win.

For about 5 years, because of her stroke, she can't speak or remember things. She doesn't take part in meetings and the mayor and council cover for her. She is paid for a job she doesn't do. Sorry, Cissy.

Ok Now I understand and if you are correct then something should be done AND NOT by us the residents BUT by the Mayor and council that have the ability to right now. The next opportunity we as residents will have is the next election and she runs. Then we can vote her in or out.
But the Mayor and council should really addresss this issue and do the right thing for OUR town. Get the residents another voice in how our town is run.

Thanks for sharing that info I really had no idea.

so now you are going after Cissy ... all you people who think in your own egotistical minds that you CARRY her. You cannot shine her shoes YOUNGSTERS!!!!! If you think for one minute that the people of NETCONG do not read these posts, you are delusional. If you think for one minute that the people of NETCONG are gonna vote her out, you need your heads examined. The same OLE TIMERS who put you in WILL KEEP HER IN AS LONG AS SHE WANTS!!!!! ASHPET?

She has more class, intelligence, compassion and education in her little pinky than you have in your whole beings.

CABEEEEESSSSHHHHHH!!!!!

p.s. somebody better interpret for the Non-CHOSEN!!!

Hey Stew Nod
You are on the money cissy did have class, she does have compassion, But you should attend a meeting it's sad to see but she doesn't or hasn't done a thing in 9 years. From what I have been told the council didn't have a problem the first 3 years but were all shocked when she kept her seat. Everybody loves her but they don't have the heart to tell her not to run.

DEAR MAYOR AND COUNCIL: Sounds like you are testing the waters ----DO NOT EVEN TRY to sideswipe CECELIA ROMANO LAUREYS. If you concur that she is too old to help run this town, than most of this town is too old to pay the exorbitant taxes that you have shoved down their throats. i suggest that you think long and hard before you campaign against her behind her back (YOU GET THE HORNS FOR THAT INDISCRETION PHT PHT)_____ AND do not let us hear that you are strong arming her to retire. WE ARE WATCHING!!

Born Here. Cissy STILL has class. I have been to recent meetings and she does not do any more or less than the rest of the governing body of Netcong. She has never and still has absolutely no agenda and not a self serving bone in her body which cannot be said for the rest of the council who talk behind her back. If you want to really help the town, help ALL address their numerous personal problems and have each and every one of them take a GOOD, HONEST look at why they are in the position they are in. Is it for the people of Netcong or for their own individual "cause". Actually Cissy's agenda is the only agenda that is 100% for the good of Netcong.

I would still like to know what are you bloggers looking for from your council? Every year you see a new street being paved, You have concerts every week in the summer. The seniors are being helped, doctors visits or shopping.Leaves, brush, and grass pickups and quite a bit more if you would take the time to think about it. I'm not looking for an arguement just some intelligent answers. Who knows the council just might learn something from this forum

Get out and about whenever possible today. You're feeling energized and will want to keep active at every opportunity. Leave the car at home if you can and walk to your destination instead, or have a brisk walk in your lunch-hour.
