Rodney, How can you call for the legalization of medical marijuana based on your illegal use of pot for 36 years? I think you smoked away some brain cells if you think that is a logical argument. Also, marijuana impares judgement, and is highly addictive, which leads to the need for even greater doses to recieve the same high. It also is a fact that most coke and meth addicts started with pot. It is a gateway drug. Just because people have no moral judgement or respect for the law does not mean that we should just legalize crime. Grow up and become a responsible, contributing member of society. It's idiots like you that are ruining what used to be a great town to live in. Move to New York or something.

I would argue that pot smoking is no more or less addictive then alcohol if addictive at all. I recall how the government went after pot production with it's war on drugs making it more expensive. The harder it was to get the pot the easier and cheaper it was to obtain other illegal drugs, ie coke and acid. This may sound stupid but in reality true pot smokers were quite content just gettting stoned they just couldn't afford it.
Making pot legal wouldn't be the end of the world but it probably won't help in the fight against obesity.(26 years pot free)

Richard you are so right. The big insurance industries are controlling the system and screwing the business owner out of every last dime they have because everyone doesn't have access to afffordable healthcare, yet Republicans continue to back them up.

Why do we continue to let insurance companies dictate what accidents they will and will not pay because they may happen at work, because everyone doesn't have affordable healthcare. All accidents and healthcare should be paid by one insurance policy not two and three and four all in the sake of providing citizens hospital and doctors care.

Just think of the administration costs associated with health insurance, workers compensation insurance, car insurance medical coverage ans down the line it goes. It's all the same thing doctors and hosptal visits.

Workers compensation costs could easily be cut by 75% if the healthcare insurance companies wouldn't be double and triple dipping businesses, citizens and employee's alike. A long term and short term disability plan and term death insurance policy would only cost the employer 25% of their current workers compensation rates.

Why didn't Senator Folmer think of this ? the guys getting paid big bucks from taxpayers and doesn't do anyhting to cut costs for businesses.

Citzens only need to pay for doctor and hospital visits one time no matter how or were they are hurt. Big Insurance is ripping us off.

Last time I checked the federal government - to whom you want to turn over ALL of your healthcare decisions - is worse at restricting payments to hospitals and doctors...

Well after a few weeks away, I must post again. Rodney, where are your facts based on? Like I have been saying over and over again to the mass of people, please go to www.pubmed.gov if you want to get the facts about anything relevant to science. This is where peer-reviewed publications are written. I'm not going to get into a debate whether marijuana should be legal, although if Rodney knew the history of marijuana in the US, he would know that it was legal at one time and in actuality was the scapegoat for FDR's New Deal and it ilegal status wad also the result of the jiberish rantings of Bible-beaters (much like those of prohibition). I am going to argue your points of marijuana being addictive and killing brain cells. Just because one builds a tolerance doesn't mean the substance is addictive. Tolerance is observed due to an upregulation of gene expression of enzymes that breakdown the agent as well as a desensitization of the cell receptors. Addiction is a whole different biological phenomenon. Also, we have endogenous cannabinoids is our brain that have biological function i.e. mediate immune response as well as higher brain functions and studies have not shown marijuana to kill brain cells. Also in reference to marijuana being a gateway drug, I would tend to disagree with you on this. I bet you would find that chronic substance abusers started with tobacco and alcohol first, the only difference is that we as a society find these drugs more acceptable.

Rodney - The fact that you chose 36 years of daily pot use over being gainfully employed in itself show that that you have an problem.

It's also a fact that all drug abusers started on baby formula and/or mothers milk.
Come to think of it, if you check into it you'll find the same connection with rapists, murderers and any other violent criminals.

I've known plenty of people who smoked pot and refused to even try any other controlled substances. If someone is predisposed to to drug abuse they'll abuse the drugs regardless of which one they can get their hands on first.
I also know lots of people who drink alcohol but don't touch controlled substances, same with tobacco.
You can find statistics to support any argument you want but that doesn't mean that those statistics reflect reality.
Some people have an occasional beer, some people are alcoholics.
Some smoke pot occasionally, some are hard core stoners.
As for me, I love the smell and taste of some tobacco, but I'm not really a smoker. I like to smoke a small cigar once in a while but only certain brands. When I say once in a while I mean maybe 5 or 6 in a year.
My point is that everyone is different and statistics don't take that into consideration, which by the way I don't see you actually citing statistics, you're just repeating what the mainstream media has been saying for so long that the general population believes it without question or thought.
And for the record I am not a pot smoker.
