1 This all worked so well that once the written word was invented, then clay tablets etc. laid the foundations for all of the rules, fears, guilt, control and ways to gather goods for those lazy and clever enough to spin these yarns with some sort of natural activity to back them up and gain significance over others. This also worked so well that these shady philosophers of evil used it in all of its frivolity to usurp wealth, loyalty, land and power in which to wage war with other religions for further evil gains of control, wealth, land and power. It worked so well that it is still being done today, though these purveyors are more deadly and ever increasingly evil, it will likely be the end of mankind. Which in and of itself is probably not an ‘all’ bad idea… after all… what grand things has mankind brought, and what vileness has it wrought onto this encircling orb of beauty and majesty?!! That’s a question I’ll be thinking about until the end of “MY” days, and probably others that come along behind me after I’m gone as well. Personally I don’t sweat these things, as long as it’s not thrown in my face or brought into my home, in that case… I do know how to use my right foot, and I have good aim and a clear flight path to the curb! |

"True wisdom is Knowing that you Know nothing." It was the simple truth that Socrates tried to share with the world. Religion has been the Prozac of the world for thousands of years. Allowing otherwise immoral people to find peace in thier own minds in the form of a religious security blanket. It takes away the presure of absolute accountability and unescapable mortality. The greatest downfall of religion is that it leaves the Ego untethered. Creating the opportunity for humans to believe that they are in themselves a kind of DemiGod that is entitled to special favor and that thier fellow human beings are not equals, but souless beast. It is this flawed design that has cast aside our basic instinct of interdependance. The next step for religion will be one of seeing the big picture and a world outside of and beyond or own single being. If we survive our own self centered, destructive impluse brought on by over-population.

1 I seriously doubt there will be any further expansion of religion other than what it is, and still as it began… power tripping of the clever, criminal and evil over others not as clever, criminal or evil as themselves. Nothing more and nothing less. Yeah… that’s exactly what I expect to hear from someone who actually thinks that their misunderstanding of all things obvious to free thinking, studying and learned individuals already know and have bypassed to venture forth toward more important things, like… well do butterflies have gas? |

Self-glorification and negative criticisim. Ah yes, the very foundation of religion. You have potential as a preacher. However, closed-mindedness and lack of self-discipline, you have none as a philosopher. Pursue an education and; prehaps when you grow up, you will be able to see that Knowledge comes from Experience, everything else is just information. You might even find that your 'wisdom' is flawed. If you have ever answered a question wrong it proved you knew nothing of either the question or the answer. Mankind was once purely convinced the world was flat and that the sun was the eye of god. No matter how certain we are of anything, we never truely know. Keep this in mind as life proves you wrong time and time again. One day, you might have a small glimps of a tiny fraction of the truth.

Ezbet & Thunder Dragon,
Why are you talking to yourself? One and the same! |

Religion, Christianity in particular is what keeps you going when everyone else had let you down. There is a difference between religion and being a Christian. Religion can be ritual and tradition, but Christianity goes far past that ...its an intimate experience with our creator, one that loves us when no one else will. We can hide from it or pass it over as old fashioned but the truth never changes no matter how much you wrap it up in humanism.

Fantastic post "christian mom". That's more like what I was hoping to see on this tread. The religious experience is a very personal one, and is seen differently by All people. Thank you for sharing your point of view.

Agnes Thunder Dragon Happens to be my husband, So no we are not one and the same! Why are you attempting to start trouble? Have nothing better to do? Thunder Dragon is a expert on religions All of them I am not! I assumed he was better suited to answer the question at hand more so than I. I hope I have satisfied you although I do wonder why you would think that I would NEED to answer a question in another account? It makes no sense to me. Does it bother you that someone TRIES to answer such questions with intelligence? Or was that just a vague attempt to take this thread in another direction which has absolutely nothing to do with this thread? Anywhoo!!!! Bravo Dragon great response hun thank you.:) |

Hmmm… this has a familiar ring to it “Abner! Abner! Look at what they’re doing!” this is not even in the slightest humorous, some sort of problem solving skills, but more than likely ole lady busybody like behavior. In fact it shows an odd psychological imbalance and a severe need of medication, because only people that are familiar with practicing such a disorder of playing and/or pretending to be multiple personas would jump to such a conclusion. Yeah… that’s right! I’m a behaviorist too, and I am very familiar with bipolar disorders, chemical imbalances and “Glen Beck”(of FOX NEWS) like abilities who attempt to connect dots where there aren’t any in order to draw attention to themselves, as well as people whom are so familiar with such dishonesty, Munchhausen Bi Proxy. Or maybe ADHD, which often leads peoples minds to wonder about inside itself seeing things that are not even there just to create drama out of boredom, lack of people skills and sometimes having delusions of grandeur such as private investigating (in this case on the internet with no evidence other than their own guilt from doing such) in order to fool themselves into thinking they’re actually intelligent? My advice is to: see a therapist for further evaluation for the “right” medications, stick to reading detective novels or get a hobby more on your level of skills intelligence and ability’s! puzzles, word search (you may need to attend night school for further education first though) or stacking little wooden alphabet (ABC) blocks in order to actually connect something more on your level. |

Sssshhh... now now, just because you people are uneducated, supersticious and have never been any further in life than your church, Wal-mart, or limit yourselves to watching Jerry Springer is no reason to act arrogant. You and "Christian mom" remind me of "Gearge W. Bush" (ole Dubya) who actually told people sopme magical space god who violated its own commandments to impregnate and commit adultry with a woman that needed another imaginary spirit to convince the woman to cheat on her husband and then confuse this half breed alien/human with your Space God. Take your medications, some night classes and I'm sure you'll be able to get it all together... ok? The rest of us will ignore you so you won't feel embarassed wehn actually get an education and we promice to 'not' make fun of you anymore... ok? |

So since when is telling the truth from my multiples of tens of years of research, and responding to insults that were aimed at an attempt to insult me as well as accuse me of being multiple personas belittling others? I think your so called experiment was more a trap to ensnare people that just have excellent insight that there is something flawed with religion period, but have no real research behind them. Now you can accept that I will not be insulted as people in this thread have attempted to do for my in-depth research and knowledge on these religions versus their conjecture and browbeating of these beliefs into them by their parents and community, or keep on doing as you‘re doing and tilting things in the favor of yours and your fellow believers (followers?) beliefs. Just because you started this thread does not give you and those of your belief system any right to tell me what I can and cannot do. You thought you could attempt to belittle me with tidbits of information about past society’s philosophers, but failed, and now you have the nerve to accuse me of what you did? This is oddly familiar behavior of right wing twisting of facts and “truly” sociopath behavior familiar with misfits like Glen Beck, Sarah Palin and George W. Bush. You’d be better off drinking kerosene and peeing on a brushfire than attempting this as per usual rightwing slanted bait and switch tactic. I also noticed you said nothing about “Agnes” accusing myself and my wife of being the same person either. As I said earlier… I “was not” going to respond again to this thread yet here we are! My wife had told me about these accusations and then I see miss “Christian mom” and her uneducated, misinformed and distortion of what she thought she knew about religion and your commending her! Now!… if this is truly an experiment (as you say?) then reprimand the others for their ignorance or get use to my verbal foot up your rear! You cannot have it both ways, praising someone for agreeing with your belief and condemning others for theirs knowledge of it… unless you are in fact doing what you’re doing…. Talking out both sides of your mouth! Ya feel me?!!! |

Yes, quite. I myself, am agnostic. As to say that I do not any any followers that I am aware of. I must admit that for you to suggest so is flattering. My only complaint toward you inparticular "Thunder Dragon", is that I'm afraid people will be hesitant to post thier view at the cost of one of your ego-fueled rants. I regret that you seem unable to simply discuss the topic without becoming emotionaly involved; as you do seem to be somewhat knowledgeable of the subject. I would look forward to any post that gave your opinion or insight and wasn't a direct attack on someone elses. Please feel free to expess your experience with religion and, if you would, help to guide this tread toward an educated and civil discussion.
