Technically, that is all he did was violate a custody order. He didn't "kidnap" the child he just did not follow the courts custody order.

Women do this to men every day run off with their children because they are the mother and forbid the father to see the child when ever it suits their fancy to do so.

Sad this child was raised away from his mother, someone who he should have been allowed to know, someone who should have been a part of his life but he was and the hands of time can not be set back.

I'm glad this man actually let this boy live so many others kill their children when the pressure gets hot.

My oldest son and I went through somewhat the same situation...he was 10 months old and gone for 31 days, after I was awarded sole custody. I was heartbroken. He of course was returned safe and sound and now a 10 year old happy boy.Sixteen years??I can not even imagine the heart ache this mother has had. I'm glad it has has a good ending. As "NoseyLike you"posted so many times it does not end on a good note.My thoughts and happiness are with the mother and her son.

Although I do not agree with his decisions, I do understand them. This is a result of the Indiana laws peratining to Child support and custody. Indiana has to revisit the Indiana Child Support Guidelines and Custody orders. There are to many variables to be taken into account to have a set of "guideines" for every individual case. What courts don't realize is that these are just that, GUIDELINES! There needs to be more flexible judges and attorneys to meet the needs of the individual situations. After all... don't we pay their salaries and aren't the attornies supposed to REPRESENT their client?

Sounds like the father had good reason to run off with Brandon. Maybe he knew something about mom that we don't. After all he did wait until Brandon was of adult age to return him and now he will do his time. Maybe that is a small price to pay to be apart of your son's life. Indiana is to quick to give mom full custody all the time.

Sounds like dad was a selfish man who wanted HIS son all for himself. He TOOK him and left the mother of his son to wonder for 16 years if her son was healthy, happy, alive. He took little leagues baseball, graduation, football, swimming, prom, first dates, booboo's, illness where a little boy needs their mommy, hugs, good mornings, good nights, I love you's. This woman had to be in agony for 16 years, he should suffer the same punishment. So he is supposed to be a martyr now because HE decided to bring the young man home???? The thought of what this man did to the mother of his son brings tears to my eyes.

Take a child away for 16 years, and all the criminal father gets is possibly only 6 months?! In my opinion, that is NOT justice. Mothers and fathers alike--imagine if this were YOUR child and taken away from you! I doubt that you all would be so quick to say "well, at least he was returned unharmed'! Granted, that indeed is very fortunate. However, if I were the mother, I know that I would fight to the end to ensure that he receives a harder punishment for his actions.

Maybe just maybe he should have gone the legal route vs breaking the law. He wanted to be part of his sons life??? SO DID SHE!!! He took that from her and her son. He did to her exactly what you claim he didnt want done to HIM. So he is the freakin', self sacrificing martyr??? THINK AGAIN!!

Brandon's father had a brother, and if Brandon's father is anything like his brother, he's a real nut case. That or he must have been on some pretty strong mind-altering drugs. His physical resemblance is almost identical to his brother so.........

Thank you!! Maybe the courts knew something when she was awarded custody. This is such a sad case. I would love to see a follow-up. The boys reaction when he found out his father STOLE him? I want to know what he was told about his mom while he was growing up? Did his wonderful dad remarry and replace HIS mom with a new mommy??? Did the dads family know where he was all these years??
