Stilwell is right to fight for their private property rights. Overland Park will not stop
even at the Miami County border if they can get away with it. They are buying land in other counties like Wyandotte to take water from those counties to allow for even more urban sprawl in Johnson County. The mission statement of the JCBOCC states that they oppose ANY restiction placed on Eminent Domain by the State of Kansas.
The heck with private property.

Stilwell area residents file for incorporation
“It is not the destiny of Stilwell to have every intersection look like 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue”
Fearing a future of strip mall development and suburban sameness, residents in southeast Johnson County filed incorporation papers Monday to become the city of Stilwell, Kan.
'We want to control our own destiny and keep our tax money working here,' incorporation organizer David Webb said. 'We want to make our own decisions.'
The 23.4-square-mile area runs from U.S. 69 east to the Missouri line, from Overland Park's southern boundary to the Miami County line. By comparison, Leawood is about 15 square miles. Read more

keep fighting jo. co. government, the only organization more corrupt in jo.co. is water district#1. don't back down somebody needs to stand up to them and win, so please don't back down from this fight, no matter what they promise, because remember its jo.co. and they will lie and cheat you on any and everything.

I sure feel bad for those Stilwell residents. Overland Park is greedy with land annexations. They need to focus more attention on the older tree-lined neighborhoods instead of developer interests.

I thought olathe was bad, but overland park casts a different light on the word "greed". there is nothing like taking care of the developers, instead of your citizens. the area they want is very nice, but overland park will ruin it, just like every large city has always done, like they say money talks, bullsh-t walks.
