1 Or are we not doing a good enough job educating people? And what can be done to change their minds? |

2 If the Catholic Church is willing to involve themselves in local politics by punishing a parishner for his vote, then they can and should expect a visit from the IRS. Hypocrites. Every last one of them. |

1 Folks like that only view others as hypocritical. They believe that only they are right. And then they tell us that there is no absolute right and wrong and we shouldn't judge others. I never could quite figure out how they kept up with their own nonsense. |

1 Ah, but the Bishop is requiring her to oppose abortion. He is merely advising that she is not to receive Holy Communion. As the spiritual leader in the Diocese, he has every right to protest her publicly mocking the faith. Yes, of course, at every Mass there are probably people who are not in a state of Grace receiving communion. The difference here is that the Governor is a public figure who is publicly flouting the teachings of the Church. She is always free to leave the Church as many, many others have. |

1 Well, I can't speak for the others but I certainly am. There is a difference between a sinner and an unrepentant sinner, no? Or, perhaps, the Governor does not believe that supporting abortionists is a sin at all. In which case, what is she doing in the Church? |

1 Yes, you are right there is a dif. in a repentetive sinner and one who is not. The governer is committing a grave sin by going to commmunion. Anyone who thinks abortion is okay and going to communion is committing a grave sin. They will have to answer for it. |

1 Well, whether they will or not remains to be seen. Is it really a grave sin to "think" that abortion is okay? The Governor does more than that. She accepts $$$ from late term abortionists (Tiller) and opposes legislation that would allow enforcement of existing Kansas law regarding late-term abortions. The Bishop must not instruct her service of the public. On the other hand, he is certainly entitled guard against sacremental disrespect and public contempt for the teaching of the Church. Do you reckon that all the unrepentant Fenian bastards are searing in Hell? |

Yes it is a sin to even think about killing an unborn baby. I do not know, only God knows and thats His business not mine.

A priest who will never be faced with the decision of abortion is a hypocrite. Newsflash: This Governor is not HAVING ABORTIONS therefore she has not sinned against God OR his laws and should not be punished. Unfortunately, Catholics do not use common sense. They just judge and punish. Unless it is a Priest who is fondling or raping a child, then they say "Forgive our Brethern. Say 50 Hail marys and you will be forgiven." They transfer him to another parish and then get back to their judging and condemnations. It truly is a twisted culture. |

1 To the first comments, Archbishop Naumann wasn't even running a diocese when the Sexual Abuse scandal broke, let alone was he one of the half-a-dozen or so that actually moved these gentleman around (that out of several hundred bishops in the US). Before you call others hypocritical, perhaps you should do some reseach and to make sure that you aren't blaming the many for the sins of a few. With regards to Archbishop Naumann's approach, he did exactly what the gospel of Matthew calls us to do (Mt. 18). If someone is doing wrong, aproach them individually, if they don't change thier ways, come with one or two more, if they still don't listen, bring them to the whole church and if he doesn't listen to the church, then let him be like one outside of the church. People understand when a priest tells a muslim that they shouldn't present themselves for communion. If you don't believe what the church teaches, then you should not present yourselves for communion as you aren't in communion with it. If you want to read the bishop's own words on the issue, here they are from our diocesan paper, where he made the issue public. http://www.theleaven.com/columnists/archbisho... |

1 God kills a lot of babies every day. In the Bible, he asked people to kill their children just to prove they "Love him more". Yechhhh. How valuable could their lives have been to him to have asked someone to 'just kill them'? Those were living, breathing children. At least an abortion is quick and there is no thought process or fear to contend with for the woman. It is far more humane than sinking a stake into an innocent childs beating heart. If God is Love, than I don't want to be loved. |
