What is Christianity? The fear of not getting to heaven, or the fear of going to hell. Burning in hell, a place that probably looks very much like the lava that comes out volcanos. The ancients saw that and said, "That's hell!" But I digress.

So God made man and knew we would screw up. So he sent His only son to this speck of a planet on the edge of the Milky Way in a vast universe filled with billions of stars, planets, galaxies, black holes - anyway, we are less than a speck but God picks us anyway. And He knew His son would suffer and die for these imperfect people on this speck in the whole universe He created. So now we are waiting for Him to come back and that will be the end of everything? Is that the end of the earth or the whole universe? Or universes? There might be billions of those. Anyway, the bible confuses me and I don't see how a loving God would purposely create bad people that He knew He would have to cast into Hell, because He's all-knowing and knew all this beforehand. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but when you consider the cosmos, the whole thing just kind of fall apart. I'm not saying there is no God, but I doubt this religion. I doubt most religions on this earth. And if there is a God, I don't think any of you have a clue about what really going on.

well first of all ,confusion is of the devil.second of all ,yes thats the great part .Jesus would have suffered and died for only you.He knew some would never follow Him.the bible says He chose to do it because He knew some would come to Him and NEVER forsake Him .He created hell for Satan and his followers, the bible says we are all born into sin.He is our way through grace.the plan is to tell as many people so we all can go. Some except it some don't.and yea He created everything on this earth and wasn't satisfied until He made mankind.so yea you were worth every stripe of beatings ,pain, spits, lashes and nails He took .the bible says you are tatooed in the palm of His hand.He loves you that much

Ninevite,
You need to ask Terry about that story. It is 100% truth. That church is nothing more to him and his family then a business. If they didnt have that church then they would be on welfare. How would he make money if he didnt have that church. 15 years ago it was Tyrone, 10 years ago it was Hope church. Now it is Ninevah. Give it time and this church will die down.
It has always been Ninevah Christian Church.

There is not a God fearing church in Lawrenceburg. A lot of those church folks will be burning in Hell.

Listen, if you dont believe in god thats your choice but have you ever taken a graduate physiology class? if so you would know just how complex the human body is. Its a system within a system within a system and so on and is so complex that i refuse to believe we are just random creatures in a random part of the galaxy. And your forgetting the choice of free will from god. He cannot tell what choice we will make or he wouldnt have granted it. We as the human race disobeyed at the beginning and now we must regain our obedience with god. We must seek him out and he puts us through obstacles to search him out.

I don't know a lot of stories but I do know that if you want get ahead in Lawrenceburg and succeed with whatever you're trying to sell, go to Sand Springs Church. There are lot of millionaires there, and for some of them (not all) what they care about is how much money do you have and/or what important family are you kin to in Anderson County. They've spent big bucks on an addition to their church, and they got a giant expensive bus to go places in(although it was purchased for seniors to get out and have fun). There are a bunch of Gideons there,(they hand out bibles only - not food or shelter) and I know a lot of school employees who want to get ahead all go there. I don't know if that's changed, since some of this info I'm telling you may be a bit dated. Drive by there sometime. It's really impressive. On the other hand there is Tyrone Church, a little church down in Tyrone that is kind of dilapidated, but I think they get a lot of homeless people other churches have turned away? This is what I've heard - don't know if it's true. They are really are a nice bunch of youthful people but their service last about 2 hours!! The singing goes on FOREVER and your butt will get sore from sitting there so long. But they do seem more genuine. I was interested at one time in going to church, but after going to a bunch of churches here I got really turned off and quit. I don't like the big ya-hoo everybody stand up and shout out your name kind of thing. Then it's crickets...awkward...but, I DON'T want to hold hands with my neighbor or have a meaningless conversation with the stranger next to me in the pew because the preacher commanded me to do so. I don't think church is so bad it's the people in them and how dumb they act. Wait, I guess that is the church, isn't it? Nothing against whatever people need to help themselves feel better, and I do know a lot of the churches in Lawrenceburg do a tremendous amount of good. So that's awesome.

But there are those of us who will seek out another venue to do something charitable. And please don't invite me to your church for the 15th time. Just check me off your insurance policy and I won't mind if you forget to pray for me when you lay you down to sleep.

I don't like the pushy, goody-goody-ness, the social status thing, all of it, ugh, it's just too much. I don't like someone I barely know"witnessing" to me about Jesus and all the stuff I need to do so I don't burn in Hell. Isn't that like buying an insurance policy?

I think the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life is the creationist thing where the earth is 6,000 years old and let's just shit-can science and education accept this crap without question. That probably was the back breaker for me. And there are many people in the burg who feel this way. Fine, but get out of my face with your Yaba daba doing and go tell some mouth-breather all about it. I would be willing to go to that Creation Museum and buy one of their over-priced tickets just so I could go in there and sing the theme to the Flintstones at the top of my lungs!
So, what do you do to 'make yourself feel better'? Cummon now.... What is it???

Your post saddens me. I go to one of the local churches. I am not rich and live on a poor street. I do not pretend to be better than you. I would talk to you if I seen you on the street. I am not trying to get ahead because I have no where to go. I am completely satisfied with my life. I don't really want the riches in life that people want because I believe it only brings trouble. I do understand what your saying that some people at churches are not friendly and are there for the wrong reasons, but maybe you could learn something one day. I find that I learn more from children then I ever would adults. They seem to be the most honest, pure humans on Earth. You seem to be missing something in your life. I hope that doesn't offend you, but you come off that way. I wish you could see genuine good people at some church. People that would give you the shirt off their back, people that would give you their last dollar, people that would share their last meal, these people do exist in Anderson County. I know it's hard to see between the muffle of it all but truly good people are there doing good things at each and every church in the county. They are usually behind the scenes kind of people that don't want any recognition for their jobs. Before you judge churches so harshly get to know some of those people first and then form a true opinion of people. I believe in faith because I have struggles that only God could of helped me with. I hope your life goes well.

The complex human body? Terry Cooper would know nothing about it because he never went to school to learn about God or anything else. He is not a trained counselor. He preaches from his own interpretation of the bible. He preaches that you only do for christians. The bible, however, tells me that you do for all people. That church is nothing more than a joke. Ask Terry about abandoning his gay brother in his time of need. His poor brother died alone. He asked for his family to help him and Terry refused. I have a question for you Terry. WWJD?

Sand Springs Church is a big joke we were having an extremely hard time with paying our bills after my husbands wreck We had three small children at the time and was on the verge of losing our home .They refused to help us because we didn't fit the criteria for that church. My kids tried to go to that church and were treated terrible and told not to come back,I know my kids aren't angels by far but to kick a child out of church who is trying to know God that's just pathetic and sad .And the one lady known as granny is a drunken alcoholic who stays loaded and mistreats her grandson They are hypocrites and liers no wander that church Is conscidered one of the worst

You were probably denied assistance because you hop from one place to the next with a hand out. Most all the churches are willing to help out, but they do keep records of abusers. When a name pops up too many times at different places they draw the line and say no so they can help more people that actually deserve it. There is no "criteria" a person must meet. They just can't be allowed to take advantage of the system. As for your child, the accusation of being "kicked out" is so ridiculous it doesn't deserve a response.

It is Sand Spring. There are not two of them so it is not plural. It is not a big deal that a non-member doesn't know the name but I love hearing a member tell me they go to Sand Springs.
