The man picked to be the city of Pittsburgh's public safety director lacks the experience needed for the post, Councilman William Peduto said yesterday.

Director of Operations Dennis Regan, nominated by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl to add the safety job to his duties, is set to come before council for questioning today. Council confirms the director, who oversees the police, fire and emergency medical services bureaus.

The director "should be someone who has dedicated their lives to public safety," Mr. Peduto said, mentioning Fire Chief Mike Huss as a good candidate. "I cannot find any city in America with someone as its [safety] director who has no experience." "Dah Dah Dah"
