Mr.Morse should be a bit more honest to the people of Jackson County. Mr. Morse says he has 13 years of law enforcemnt experience but fails to say it is all as a part time officer. He never dedicated himself to a law enforcement career. The only full time law enforcement job he had he quit after a few short months. As far as his endorsments they are from part time officers as well. I have heard Mr. Morse say he can not afford to be a full time officer with his life style and we dont need a part time sheriff.

Mr. Leonard maybe you should submit these comments, and more, to The Holton Recorder so that all Ja. Co. citizens stand a chance of learning what you know.

You should really let the public of Jackson County know this information. Would he really quit is Full Time Tribal Job? What about his Chief of Police Job? Would he work seven days a week like the current sheriff? Come out when someone is sick so the tax payers don't have to pay more in overtime? Work Holidays like the current administration does? These are all questions the need to be answered by Mr. Morse!

Something is up with Mr. Morse & Mr. Ruppert. Are they trying to split the vote and then one can become the other's Under Sheriff? It looks kind of bad...

I can gurantee you Morse and Rupert have nothing to do with eachother!! Plus your comment makes no sense, Morse and Cornell are DINO (Democrats in name only) and Rupert is a Republican so they can't split the votes!! Rupert will face the winner of Morse and Cornell.

I don't know much about any of them but atleast Rupert has switched parties just to run and his insistance proves to me he is serious about the job, plus he didn't move here just to be "the man".

The current Sheriff wouldn't have to work 7 days a week if he hired good deputies, trained them well and trusted them! I have to wonder what keeps him out all of the time? Is it paranoia? It isn't his desire and care for the county otherwise he wouldn't still own a home in KC and would've been a true citizen of Ja. Co. prior to filing for office last time, instead of waiting until a year after winning the election to move his family!

I ran across this and had to laugh. What kind of politics do you people play? You're actually complaining that a sheriff that works 7 days a week? and then you blame it on him not hiring the right people? My god, how wonderful that would be if every politician did that. I don't know any of them , but indeed it sounds like the current sheriff is doing something right or you would not be here complaining line after line

Complaining about doing something right? So paranoid that he claims his deputies or former deputies or his opponents are trying to kill him? So paranoid that he runs good deputies off! Has an investigation launched against his office because of the hostile work enviroment he fosters and brags that he'll resign if they find anything wrong then claims they can't investigate him because he is elected so he refuses to release what the investigator determined? Yep he is doing a great job, Jackson County is a great place to live. For the past 5 years this county continues to find GREAT people to be the Sheriff!!

You really don't know someone unless you live with them or work with them. This sheriff that they have there is the strangest duck ever. In fact, he has been recently investigated by a retired FBI agent, and he and the county commissioners are keeping the results a secret. This is an elected official that was investigated by county tax payer dollars. What is he afraid of? Apparently, he has something to hide. I think the voters need to see what they are voting on.

Seems like they can't ever get someone decent up there. Saying his employees are going to do him in, is sorta nuts.

You know it was good for a while, when McManigal and even when Durham was there. I know Durham caused a lot of drama with co. comm. and what not but atleast crimes were being solved and you felt safe. I guess thats why I've now decided to vote for Rupert, I thought Tomlinson or Cornell would be a step up but they've proven that experience really does matter and the track record of the place when Rupert worked there speaks for itself!!

I don't think anyone really wants to go backwards with the same ole has beens. Cornwell and Rupert are ready to retire. Maybe we need to look at someone who can turn the place in a positive direction and keep it that way for a while. Apparently, the last 3 sheriffs couldn't do the job.

I don't Rupert ever had the chance to prove himself? He was an undersheriff and was cheated out of the position by the Republican Party. Saying the "last 3 sheriff's couldn't do the job" is a little overboard!! Maybe the last 2 couldn't but 3 Sheriff's ago was Durham and she got it done well, mainly because Rupert was her Undersheriff. The only other candidate was there during the Durham, Tomlinson and Cornell administration so would we be keeping up with the "same ole" with Morse? Probably, except he doesn't have the experience, being a part time officer his whole life!!!

No one around here wants Duram and Rupert back in. As far as Morse is concerned he is a full time officer. You must be his opponent or repeating the non-sense they are spuing out. Strange that he can get along with everyone and the past 3 can't. Rupert aint even a cop anymore.

Sounds to me the Rupert people better get out there and start campaigning or he will be "cheated" out another time.

Well, just like Charlie, you will get what you vote for. Has Tim quit is full time job at the Fire Dept? Nope!! Could he make a good sheriff? Probably, I'm not against him, I just feel that Rupert would make a better Sheriff. I feel the crime rate vs clearance rate during his time as undersheriff proves that. I've taken the time to look at all candidates resume's very closely. One has a long career with several years as a security guard, and until elected sheriff had never held a post of a supervisor, another except for a short period of time, has always been a parttime officer and has a small amount of experience of supervision over a couple of deputies on night shift as a corporal and over 1 other officer as a parttime police chief. The third was the undersheriff that obviously ran the sheriff's office at a time when it apparently ran its smoothest (no law suits or investigations). Plus he was chief of a tribal department with something like 8 officers. As far as "ain't a cop anymore", I thought he was an MP in the Army?? I admire those people as much, or more, than regular law enforement officers!!

Not saying Morse wouldn't make a good sheriff I just think by the time the campaign is over it will be obvious who has the most experience and could run a law enforcement agency better!! Not that that person will win.

Yeah, not sure why they aren't, other than they don't have a primary and I heard Rupert isn't due back from the military for a while yet.
