I think it can be summed up as easy as this, police are "role models" and preachers are "role models" as well. Additionally, it's not a far stretch to see that police have slipped to the back of the proverbial line when considering other role models such as stars in; country music, nascar, NFL, President Obama and preachers.

Therefore, one could surmise that the police "role" models wanted to even the score a bit, so they greased a higher "role" model to even the playing field.

You consider music stars and NFL players ahead of police officers as role models. Let's think about that seriously. By shear numbers, NFL players and professional musicians have a higher percentage of criminal activity and recidivism than any branch of law enforcement. And when was the last time you heard of a group of 10,000 little boys coming forward to claim being molested by police officers? Never, can preachers/priest say the same?
And the President of the United States, has been involved in more violations of law and oath in less than a year than any officer in ten years. What the officers did was defend themselves and try to do a job you could not understand or do, ever. You have no idea what it means to sacrifice daily for the scumbags and the innocents. To sacrifice for the innocent and upstanding is easy, but defending the guilty and repulsive members of this world is the difficult part and they do it everyday.

Wow 400 people who would spit in the face of a person exercising a right to disagree with you. Sounds like you have great friends. Dub, you are right on this one. Even the name "Dub Hater" is rude. Please don't judge everyone by his or her rudeness. And really, that is not why our country is in the shape we are in. It is because people are not concerned with what is going on all around us. And by not beign involved with our political leaders.
Ah, but I digress. This is about the unfortunate death of a pastor. My prayers go up for the family who has to live with this.

They will get away with it. Police are responsible for enforcing the law, but they often regard themselves (and other police) as above it. So, other police will never charge these police with anything, even though they murdered a man. They always protect their own. It's one aspect of "the blue wall of silence."

The lies they are telling are very typical. When police do something wrong, they start immediately to doctor up the story and the evidence in their favor. They say the preacher hit one of them with the car. The descriptions I have read of the surveillance video don't back that up. Even if he had hit one of them, I suspect the cops looked like bad guys closing in fast who would hurt him.(And that turned out to be true.) Police are allowed to lie in the course of their work and during interregations. I think if a person does enough of that, the line between lying and truth-telling becomes blurred, then lost. Lying, like anything else, becomes a habit after enough repetition.

I have a friend whose two parents were in law enforcement and were both undercover cops at some point. He says for many purposes, he believes police must be regarded as one more kind of gang running loose in society. I have definitely seen things myself that tend to corroborate that view.

If police want to regain and maintain the respect of American society, they will need to do something to become moral people again. They will have to rejoin respectable American society somehow. Killing a preacher who gave a free ride to someone needing to hear his message does not help their cause.

Since police are responsible for controlling drugs, parents should sue police departments if their kids wind up addicted to drugs.

Explain the absurdity of that, you made a comment not only mentioning athletes and musicians, you made a statement elevating those individuals to a status of reverence and admiration who were morally superior to law enforcement officers. Now that is absurd.

Police officers are tax paid semi-professional bureaucratic servants that create nothing of value. Entertainers are private sector, free market entrepreneurs who employ others through their person creativity.

Every dark cloud has a silver lining. Tomorrow, a lot of people will be getting phone calls from their lawyers telling them that their cases will be dismissed due to the officers not being able to make their court dates. So, the news isn't all gloom and doom.
