I can understand a couple of million for a school building, but $17.5 million... really? That should be 5 or 6 schools, not just 2. Maybe it's me, no wait... it's my money, my money that will I will not have to help pay for my son's pre-school. This is a tough pill to swallow... if I didn't have kids getting ready to enter elementry in the next couple of years I would obviously vote NO.
When will they get it? Yes, we need new a middle school and high school, its obvios. But come on,$17.5 million?
These schools better handle at minimum twice the capacity of students exptected to attend in 10 years from now... have all the security bells and whistles, and oh yeah, better be way more energy efficient than the buildings being replaced. We better not get a request for a new operating levy once they get built.
For $17.5 Million they better include solar and wind generation for electric that can power both buildings and the elementry school. Heck, they should make money by selling electric back to South Central Power. Radient floor heating, natural lighting via sky lights and sun tubes, and don't forget heated sidewalks!

This is a given, no local district has built new schools and NOT asked for a new operating levy. The District usually finds out the costs to run a new building are more than the old building, but by then it is too late. Just look at Reynoldsburg, they have two new schools they are going to keep closed due to lack of operating funds. Circleville will be asking for an operating levy within three years if they get their new schools.
