Those condos are not worth anywhaere neaar that so they will be upside down right of the bat.

Next, at that max income level they will NEVER be able to afford 164 to 200K condos with the assoc fees etc. plus other bills.

This program has failure written all over it. Rediculous. Just burn the money like Obama does.

Lauderhill has over half of their homes with subprime loans and hundreds of homes in foreclosure, so this is why they need to get occupants into these houses so the city can start collecting property taxes. Unfortunately I haven't seen any relief for middle class yet.

Arrrggghhh!!! Yet another free money giveaway. Since the SS made public this information, I can only imagine the increased volume of new applications that will now be sent to Lauderhill from the "I am entitled to everything" group.

Reportedly from the late Dr. Adrian Rogers (1931-2005), former Pastor of
Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis , TN :

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what
they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Where did people get the idea that everyone is entitled to own their own home anyway? There just aren't enough to go around, and naturally the low-income people are the ones who should be left out. Rent an apartment and quit your whining.

This isn't a new program. They've been doing it for years, as well as almost every other city in Broward. I think Hollywood offers the most money.

"But till now, that hasn't been easy. That's because of the more than 500 applicants screened by banks, only about 13 have qualified. Most of the candidates have flunked out because they have a bad credit history."

Low income people can't manage money. What a shock. You might as well thow the 20k in the garbage. Giving free money attached to home ownership is what got us in this depression in the first place. Their is no short cut. Besides Lauderkill sucks.

I don't know you jescandell but I love you. Not in a gay way though. That was an awesome quote that sums up what made america great and what is now destroying it. Now all can understand. That Dr. Rodgers is brilliant.

Effin Blowe Mee.

No money for schools, police, fire, parks, but they can blow 500 grand on this krap to keep the prices of overpriced homes, above market value.

Follow the money.

And people wonder why we got into this mess. The city of Lauderhill is trying to encourage folks to end up in foreclosure.

At the very best ratio, a couple earning $45,550 would be a buying a $164,900 one-bedroom. That's 3.6 times their annual salaries. And, that's at the very best possible ratio under the figures provided above.

Anyone buying more than 3 times their annual salaries is a massive foreclosure risk.

In additions, the person paying $164,900 for a one-bedroom is paying more than double in monthly PITI+HOA than an equivalent rental would cost.

In other words, the city of Lauderhill is trying to make people buy over-priced homes that they can not afford.

Isn't that what that National Association of Realtors and the Mortgage Bankers Assocation tried to do during the bubble? Isn't that what got us here in the first place.

Something is fishy here. Why just Georgetown homes subdivision? Peopele that are approved should be able to use the money on any type of house located within the county. Wonder what the builder makes on this, let alone the realtor.
