Sounds like some garbage company isn't kicking back enough money to someone in Unity government. Or one of the companies is run by Tony Soprano and doesn't want any competition.
Either way we will end up paying more when only one company does it all.

Pay more?!?
I have seen 2 pay increases by the outfit the township will go with. This increase was in a 8 month span.

You would think if Waste Management was awarded a contract for the whole Township that the rates would go down. I already use them and they have been great.

I lived in Greensburg prior to moving to Lawson Heights. We had Waste Management there and paid less. We could put as much as we want out each week. We didn't have a choice there. If they go with a single collector I would think they will sign a contract and not let Waste Management set whatever price they want.
