I've heard City Brewing is laying workers off 90% of the workforce every other week till the end of the year. I wish all of them luck and hopes the brewing does better soon.

The LSS strikers are looking for company. Maybe they can open an unemployed union workers hangout.

Yes most of us are on layoff this week, we will go back next week, work one week and then be off again. Our contract expires on Aug 1st, contract talks have not started yet as the company wanted to wait until the 21st of july. I for one will not give anything up as we have already given up over 6 dollars an hour and now are forced to work 12 hour work days. Sure they gave us a choice but we were told if we didn't go to the 12 hour shifts they would close the doors. I also feel we will be on the street with the LSS workers on Aug 1st.

I thought unions protected jobs and helped keep people employed. Between places like Latrobe and Detroit they are leaving in droves. I wonder if its a coincidence?

Sam Adams Beer is leaving Latrobe which leaves City Brewing with no product to produce.

Find a new job then! You are NOT FORCED to work anywhere! If my boss tells me I need to do X, then I have to do it. My other option is to go elsewhere. That's the great thing about having an education and work ethic - I can get a job elsewhere.

You were not forced to give up anything. City Brewery is not Rolling Rock, why can't anyone understand that. You didnt give up money, you were offered lower pay with a totally NEW COMPANY. AND YOU ACCEPTED IT! You didnt have to go back to the brewery, why didn't you get a job elsewhere? I bet lots of other people did. You've got to be profitable. But you'll probably find that out as your sitting at the unemployment office. Look at the big picture.

The big picture is City brewery can't even pay it bills. Ask anyone that works there they will tell you. Ask them how many times they have seen the sheriff serving them papers for unpaid bills.

According to all the experts here it should be good for everyone if they close. Then the paint can get worse, the snow can pile higher, the taxes won't get paid, the employees won't have a job. I say good! We don't need any jobs in this community.
