Taking a leak behind a tree is natural (what we did before outhouses and plumbing were invented)but, we don't do it where everyone can see us.

This is insane. When I was growing up this was a common sight and a part of life. There is nothing obscene about a mother nursing an infant.

And the reason we don't do it where everyone can see is because urinating in public is against the law. It isn't illegal to nurse a baby in public. How can you even equate nursing with urinating? You probably are one of those people who think women should nurse their babies in public restrooms! I say more power to the women who have made the decision to nurse. If it offends you, turn your head, avert your eyes, and remember that you and your delicate sensibilities need not be jarred by the sight of a woman exposing part of her breast to nurse her child.

I think the flack breastfeeding is taking is ridiculous and ironic in that our society places great importance on 'appearance' and validates large breasts as being 'best' and aesthetically pleasing, just not if a woman uses them for their natural function in public. However, she can put on a bikini and expose MORE breast that would be apparent during breast feeding, and that is perfectly acceptable to probably the same folks who find breastfeeding so offensive.

A woman in Lexington, KY nursing her baby at Applebees was asked by the manager to stop or leave. There is a city ordinance which allows publix breastfeeding and the woman informed the server of this, but she was asked to leave anyway because she was making other patrons of the restaurant "uncomfortable." Within hours, Applebees was flooded with phonecalls and protectors from angry moms! They apologized.

They were just doing their jobs, this mother was out for an agenda to sue the company and that proves she is a militant bytch

I dont agree with a woman doing that in public. I dont think it would kill them to try and find a restroom or a private area where it's out of view. I've never seen anyone doing it in public, but i can understand how it makes people uncomfortable cause if i ever saw a woman doing so in public, i'd have a problem with it.

Palin supporter, there have probably been many women who have breast fed their babies at church and in restaurants and you probably never even noticed because they were being discreet and modest about it. These women who are breastfeeding and evidently exposing themselves in a MAJOR way and have upset those of you with such delicate sensibilities, are just rude. However, no child deserves to be fed in the restroom. Do you eat in the restroom? A private area sounds like a better idea to me, but it should be at the mothers' discretion.

Mother's milk is absolute best for any baby. There is nothing wrong with a mother nursing in public, if she is being discreet about it. However, since we do happen to live in a apparently backward time, whenever my little man needs to nurse, I will ask for a place (NOT A RESTROOM!) to do it in private, like a dressing room in a store or conference room in an office building. But, sometimes, it just isn't available. So you have to do what you have to do. I think I would have to know exactly how this mother responded. There was no reason to get ugly, but there was a reason to refuse to stop nursing.

This is truly amazing to me. I would be willing to bet that all the people that have a problem with seeing someone breastfeeding their child never had a problem with seeing someone on the beach that didn't have on enough clothing for a four year old. I have saw women and men with more coming out of their clothing that what was being covered. I would much prefer my son to see a woman breastfeeding their child than to see a woman with size D cups in a size A. To me this is very rude behavior and something a child does not need to see. I do not see why a person would want to flaunt themselves like this. A breastfeeding mother is doing this to satisfy a childs hunger and nutritional need but a woman who dresses in a string bikini four sizes to small is doing so only to satisfy her need to draw attention to herself. To all the women out there that disagree with breastfeeding I am really ashamed that you would be bothered by something so natural and healthy for your children and for the men let's see you actually grow up and start thinking with your brains instead of your ??????.

If you're replying to me, then yes I do have brains. I don't see them as sexual, but I can't see them to be used for that purpose either. Doesn't the idea of having a baby on you like that sound kind of gross? And FYI, there is nothing "natural" about it. That's just what all you "good mothers" are trying to brainwash everyone else into believing. BTW, I grew up seeing people being bottlefed, so that's the only way I can see it.
