Hi Dave the amendment to an appropriations bill that deregulated the banking industry was not written by Barny Franks, it was written by Republican Senator Phil Gramm. The appropriation bill was signed into law by Democrat Bill Clinton in 1999. I am sure that Democrat Congressman Barny Franks was in full joy when the bill was signed, because the deregulation was exactly what he and Senator Cris Dodd needed to get their agenda moved along. Their agenda was to get everyone in America who wanted to own a house into a house whether they could afford it or not. Deregulation was just the ticket to forward that agenda which was on the Democrat's list sense Jimmy Carter was President.

His story is like teh one of that Korean student that shot up VPI.. several staffers and others at VPI knew he was over teh edge and a "mental" case but did nothing.. as they too were afraid of being accused of racism or ethnic bias.
A lot of that goes on... even in corporate America.. so many such "head" cases are ignored.. as non one wants a "blister" in their file that suggests they are ethnically or religiously biased.. it's a career stopper. So as the Statue of Liberty says: gives us your tired and hungry.. and maybe some loony ones too.
