Michael Hays and Jim Harbison both write columns for the LC Sun-News. Both should be candidates for the state Nut Farm, or maybe as writers for Jon Stewart on Comedy Central since Stewart is just as full of $hit as Hays/Harbison are. The two are the opposite sides of the same coin. Hays though is more prolific with his "prose" because he comments on any and everything Harbison writes and his own columns. Most people know the two of them are bags of hot air and tend to ignore their ramblings. Must be nice to be of the opinion that you are so highly regarded by others (Hays) that you continue putting out the same crap week in and week out.

It seemed to me that the number of responses to his column under the Sun News Facebook procedure reached an all time high.

I vote to kick both off of these bozos off the island. The far left and far right are the ones destroying this country. Both of these guys think they understand the rest of the world so well and know what is best for all of us. I do have a joke for Mr. Hays. How do you get a liberal arts major off your door step? Pay for the pizza!!

I checked the online version and for April 22 and April 23 there was no letter from Dennis OKeefe. There was one on the "Agenda21" that Harbison is so fond of reciting.

I think I can type it in: God of Nonbelief: In response to the latest column from M.H. titled "Athesim does no good, faith does good,"I have to say he missed a couple of very big points. He first says that the nonexistance of God cannot be proven, which is not true, and then states as a matter of seeming fact, that "atheists have a single negative faith that is stultifying, owing,I presume, to their lack of belief in a God. First, in the human realm, where we all exist, we do indeed decide the "truth" of issues based on very human means. In a court of law, we decide the fate of a person based upon the amount of real-world evidence. We weigh evidence and make judgments on many things in life in the same way. If there turns out to be no actual evidence for a belief, object or process, heartfelt and emotional as it may be, then we have to logically say that it does not exist, at least in the present time and given the information and knowledge we are operaitng with. And, as with a conviction in a court of law, we call that proof. Is it absolute? No, just as we sometimes convict the wrong person fo a crime, there are few absolutes in the real world. Mr Hays does a good job of pointing out the good and bad of religous belief, but says litlle about non-belief. The most important and "good" thing that non-belief can do is inform us of the importance of looking to real, living, humans for the solutions to the problems of the world, rather than relying upon some divine intervention to pull us out of the mess, whether by kind space aliens or the many different concepts of God. DENNIS OKEEFE Silver City My point was that the all-knowing, all telling Mr Hays seemed to step in a big bucket of controversy with his last column.

Hays seems to step in it everytime he pens a column or a response to someone who doesn't see the world through his eyes. Belief or non-belief in a Supreme Being (Deity) is a matter of personal choice, no two people will have the same exacts thoughts on the subject. I just think that Hays has a rather exalted opinion of himself and attacks anyone who does not subscribe to his viewpoint. Must be nice, huh?

There was another letter to the editor in today's paper from Eddie F. Hernandez of La Mesilla. Hays usually is quick to respond to any criticism of his columns. For some reason, he did not respond to either of the two letters to the editor.

I saw that this morning via the "online" version and wondered what happened to Hays as he usually is the first person to make nasty comments. He must be sick or something and hasn't checked online just yet. No great loss. I don't particularly wish him ill, per se, but I'm not complaining either.

The one and only Hays, who stretches the truth constantly, is concerned about lies? How ironic! Hays writes: "As a rule of thumb, you can suspect any quotation in a Harbison column to be a fabrication. So I have my doubts about the following: "Jim Harbison is a retired infantry officer, combat veteran and recipient of both Silver and Bronze stars for valor" because I have no idea where the lies stop and the truth begins in anything which he writes.

I had the same thoughts about Hays...he lies everytime he puts pen to paper or opens his mouth. I refuse to use Facebook, but I came close today when I saw his remarks about Harbison. Both of them are so full of shit it hurts. They are on opposite ends of the same warped board, I just hope it tips over soon and we don't have to hear from either one anymore, but especially Hays.

Both think they are "God's gift to America" and both are the reason this country is falling apart. In regards to Hays he believes he his much smarter than all of us. Read is bio sometime. "I am a published scholar (specialty: Shakespeare), with four degrees, including a master's in secondary education and a doctorate in English literature." That will come in really handy in a total collaps of the economy (where we are currently heading). Since there will be little food and he has a doctorate in English maybe he can eat his words to get by. Habirson is for cutting all spending except all bebefits for vets which should be increased for "his duty" to America. I do hold vets that serve in high regards but all of us that work and pay taxes are "doing our duty" as well. See where Ameica would be without the working taxpayer. I think it would fold much quicker than it would without the military. The taxpayers make everything work not just defense of the country. It is the companies paying 0%(like GE), rich paying 15%(like Mitt,Obamam Kotch Bros, Nancy Peilosi, Harry Reid, etc.) and that 49% that pays no income taxes (the MAIN PROBLEM. Those just taking and not producing) that are the one's NOT doing their duty.

Here I think instead of being "God's gift to America", it should read "God's gift to MANKIND" as they seem to view themselves as "better than thou". That's why I think they are on opposite ends of the same damn board...one extremist to the another extremist. Since there will be little food and he has a doctorate in English maybe he can eat his words to get by. I agree with you that a doctorate in English is pretty useless for most jobs, even though Jess Williams (Dona Ana County Public Spokesman) has a bachelor degree in English and liked telling me that I know nothing about the English language (I've got a MBA and a Masters in Computer Science). There is something about those English majors that causes them to place themselves on a pedestal and expects everyone else to bow down to them. No one in Washington seems to see that THEY are the problem with the US now, it is always the other "parties" fault, or they will blame previous administrations/Congress/etc. Professional Politicians really should be bannished from running for office as they are the problem.

Hays is back at it again. Have you seen his latest "masterpiece" (May 5, 2012)? When someone disagrees with him, he jumps in and insults the responder. What an ASS!!!

Hays is much like a failing elementary student who creates problems in the classroom. He writes his columns to get attention, even if it is negative attention.
