Crime in South Whitley

Hello I moved in town last summer and was robbed this spring! I lived in town and thought South Whitley had no crime and no kids running around stealing and etc. I feel the South Whitley Police Department in my case was rude and not very helpful even after I let them no my handgun was stolen! I feel that the twon need's to crackdown on this problom I see kids running around smoking and cussing and out till late hours and never even see the police in town. I now have moved to another location in South Whitley and work in Fort wayne. I just would like to see a crackdown on minors.

I used to live in South Whitley and still have family there. I agree that the efforts to control unruley minors is lacking. Often times there is one patrol vehicle making the rounds and although the town is very small, one is not enough. To the residents of South Whitely, if you want change to actually happen, get involved. You chose a small town to live in so adequate staffing may not be available for the police department. IF you want to see a crackdown on minors, then contact the local police department and ask what you can do to help. I do not want to suffer from the consequnces of uncontrolled crime by my family members becoming victims any more than you yourself do not want to be put at risk.

hola! I love South Whitley. It provided me with a job and Carol's Corner. All our minors are well behaved!

if there was something for kids/people to actaully do in south whitley, besides going to the bar(s). there is no basketball/ baseball or sport leagues, or any activities for people to do. what do you expect. anything and everything is out of town. they use to have a basketball tournment. that ended when the people having it moved. and have anyone looked at the park lately?

The "so called" authorities of South Whitley need to stop worrying about stray cats or dogs in the town and START DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THE DRUNKS AND DRUGGIES !!! Yes ... officers you know who they are . Quit putting our lives and other community lives at risk and start busting the "BAD GUYS !" The dogs will go home where they belong. THEY DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE !

1. heard of a gun safe? 2. if there was anything to do in this town, there wouldn't be a problem. there is no basketball or sport related things to keep them busy. only thing in this town is bars. the park is run down and in bad need of a overhual. and not forget not being safe for younger kids. cameras would be helpful in the safety of the park as well. and yet there is money being spent left and right on stuff that you can't tell it is making any visable change in the town of south whitley. i'm not saying that your feelings aren't wrong. just things could be better, if things were being done the right way.

looking for road reports (high water or closures) on state route 5 between huntington and larwill, including beautiful downtown south whitley near the mighty eel river....

I hate South Whitley...I do know that the teenagers there are doing what they want..where are those parents at? And for the cops there, they wouldnt make it in a real town.

i agree with you. but, the sad part of it. things aren't going to change becuase people comment on it. the police are going to do what ever they can get away with. They are hardly ever at the police station.when (certin officers) are they act like your bothering them. if they aren't, there you have the fun job of calling to another police dept in another county. so i ask what is the point. south whitley isn't that big to patrol. is it?

I will be leaving this crappy town in less than a month, I still am having a hard time understanding why in the world SOUTH WHITLEY needs A DODGE CHARGER POLICE CAR? To chase barking dogs? they sure aren't chasing the drug sellers or the people who feel they need to steal other peoples properties! My brother was chased out of town for having 5 dogs, my neighbor has 6! go figure? the school system? don't even get me started on that, your ok as long as you have a name to back you up, if not your screwed from the start!

does south whitley really need a group home? or did the town get stuck with it? just curious.

What on earth would cleaning up a park do?? Do you really think that teenagers now want to go play some basketball, most teenagers doing these things you talk about...staying out late etc. they don't enjoy sports, if they did they would play and your name to back you up at school thats just silly I went to school there my name was nothing big....I did really well, school is based on performance and attitude not your name.
