Hell no. Both my friend and I were getting food stamps for the first 2 weeks and then we got jobs. But we ate pretty good on the food stamps. We certainly didnt go to cafeterias. We had a home, a different one every night. We werent rejected by anyone, we were actually welcomed.

it was the 60's-70's, the boys were starting to go off to Canada and hide, war ws in the air

an interesting time, moon missions, the Rev King's mission to the states where he sought virgin brides for his flock as he conducted mass marriages. blonds prefered the serious types. mice and men was playing in the movies. yes good times.

those on relief felt no stigma, food stamps for some followed by flight home and there they stayed having had their adventure. yes good times for some, the lucky ones. the unlucky marriage early or prostitution, at times one and same.

ABCD getting a hanout on Food Stamps......should we take up a collection for you dear? Too bad you had to go from shelter to shelter, not such a good life now was it? No collection needed now. For that couple of weeks of joblessness and homelessness it was a need. Didnt go from shelter to shelter. They didnt have any thing then. They put people up in single room occupancy hotels in Manhattan. We struck out for the Bronx and found likeminded people in S. Bronx. We were living in burned out tennaments. Rough existence, but it was only a couple of weeks. Three actually I think. Thing is I went to work as soon as I was hired (not easy getting a job with an address that doesnt have windows, doors or a roof) and its been all up hill after that. Education, good jobs, now basically retired and keeping busy in day trading, gardening and whatever else strikes my fancy.

How about you? Boring failed life, now in retirement and waiting to die, dying from boredom.

Oh, by the way Paul, not in a tent in the woods. Trust me on that one.

yep, have to agree with SirMarky above

had little trouble flapping my wings over Europe back in'44 but now that my age is near double that year can but flutter about and fall

wonder on why SirMarkey feels he can only, let's say 'gripe' and answer long dead topix when he could say something new and true but not blue?

Believe everything you read here. Its horrible. I moved here 6 years ago and wish i had never came. hernando county is 3rd highest in unemployment in the state.Home now is not worth what we paid for it and its true everything here is just as high as every where else but wages are some of the lowest in the state. Next county is pasco and they pay more than hernando does. Please dont move here. Or should i say please move here and buy my house. If you dont believe this site go to city- data.com or sperling best places and see what they write.

Why did you come?

What attracted you to here?]

Did you have a job lined up before coming?

Did you plan on working and if so, where?

6 years ago, you were in the midst of the real estate boom. Not quite at the top, but in there.

Did you research what the home sold for before you bought it to get an indication of past value to determine if you were paying inflated price?

Were you planning on selling for a large profit and not really looking for a place to live, but a place to invest?

Wages are low here for low skilled jobs.
Skilled jobs can pay quite well. Depends on what you do.

What did you do in your former place of residence?

Did you do any research of the area before coming?

The info on City-Data mostly indicates a positive out look on the area. There are always malcontents no matter where you go.

I just got back from San Antonio Texas and found it to be a great town. I am sure I can go to City-Data and find a few people who cant stand it there.

So, lets see if you can elaborate on what is so lousy here that you didnt know about before you got here.

Why do you come to that assumption? I was inquiring so I could understand what brought the person here in the first place and what plans they had in mind when they decided to leave their previous residence.

Hey, it could be a "real" person posting and they made comments and I would like to know what caused the situation they have.
Frankly, I think it was another b.s. post because the users here only b.s. each other. There is no truth, no harmony, no upfrontness, on this forum. No exchange of thoughts, just b.s.

It just makes no sense to me why one would want to post nonsene and do it under dozens of different names.
