why should any street or any building be named after any person unless that person paid for that street or building? Why, after living as a parasite on the rest of us, should some politician or bureaucrat be immortalized with our tax money? It sickens me. Why do so many brain-dead sheople go along with it? A Chalmers Wylie building? A Rhodes Center? Why are highways named after dead state patrol parasites? Why do people worship the STATE and its representatives?

I guess the libs at the Dispatch didn't like my post recommending it be called George H.W. Bush Ave. so they censured me. Now THATS professional.

How about the truth? Why not call in Womanizer Way?
That would be the real story. Maybe Barry Obama Avenue because he has done so much already! Get over it & move on!

Naming something after George Bush is offensive on so many levels...
Why is it that you partison schmucks can't let go of that loser? If you want to idolize the idiot, move to Texas. That is the only place dumb enough to actually honor the WORST PRESIDENT EVER.

Seriously. Why are all of the most dangerous stretches of roads always named Martin Luther King Jr. Road/Ave./St./Pkwy.?

Sadly, he no longer provides inspiration to a large majority of black youth. Boondocks played it quite well in how MLKJ would be aghast of what has become of his community.

Even Chris Rock said ,'If a friend calls you on the telephone and says they're lost on Martin Luther King Boulevard and they want to know what they should do, the best response is ‘Run!’”

Instead of spending money on changing street signs, etc how about using that money to clean it up, extra patrols, clean up the gangs.

I don't know why some people feel the need to tear Martin Luther King's legacy down with rumors of his alleged womanizing. To be fair, I believe that it's probably true. Martin Luther King was a civil rights leader who had many admirers. I wouldn't be surprised if he gave in to temptation.

That doesn't diminish who he was or what he did. He did not make a name for himself preaching about morality. He fought against injustice. He didn't exploit his popularity for personal gain. He didn't get rich and he didn't parlay his popularity into a career in politics. He was always dedicated to his cause and ultimately he was killed for it.

I don't see any problem naming Mt. Vernon Avenue for Dr. King. We already have the King Arts Complex in the area and it's not hurting anybody if we change a few street signs.

After they name the street MLK Blvd. how about we rename some of the other streets in the area. Here are a few suggestions: Crack Alley, Murderers Row, Heroin Hwy., Prositution Cir., Home Invasion Rd., Baby Momma Ln. etc.etc.etc. Mt. Vernon Ave is not so scary after all.

It's a good idea to rename the street as a warning to all working people. Have you ever noticed, that in ANY city over 250,000 population, Martin Luther King Ave is always a good place to buy drugs or get shot?

I am totally against this. For one thing, I am against naming things for celebrities in general, and especially politicians, and especially those who are not beyond reproach. Let us see the sealed records so the public can find out what kind of man he really was. We already know he abused women, was a serial adulterer, and spent the last night before he was killed with a prostitute. He isn't a real hero except to race baiters who ignore his hope for a colorless society.

Secondly, there have been enough streets, schools, and buildings named after him already. It is as if they can't get any better ideas.

Personally, I prefer Malcolm X Blvd. As a person, he was MUCH greater than MLK!

Chicago will be coming up in three years. It's never to early to start looking for an apartment on the South side. There will be another community organiser family of lawyers there to help you. You might even look up the massolium that Fat Cat Burris has built to honer himself! THe worst President ever still is being claimed by the peanut farmer in Georgia. Jimmy Carter followed by the chossen one. Say hi to butter ball Oprah & the Rev. Wright! Ayers? never heard of him. Blogovich; hardley knew him.
What a riot. Next you will want to name a street on the East side after him.

We're way behind the times. We need a Barack Hussein Obama Court. Mmmmmm Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmm We need a Michelle Obama Court. Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmm We need a Reverend Wright Way. A Michael Jackson St. It should be a dead end. A Malcolm X pressway. The outerbelt should be named for Oprah since it's about her size. Tiger Woods would be nice for a government taxpayer-funded park.
