Because you make it worse. Here’s what I mean:

A while back, on TV I saw something eye-opening.

NBC was talking to a jobless couple with a house in foreclosure. On the driveway was their Nissan. I shouted,“Hey, Guys, a couple in Japan are bowing at you in gratitude for their jobs.”

Jobless Americans driving Japanese cars.....helping put even more Americans out of work! Duh!

Then I see people trying to fool themselves with US flag decals on their prides of Japan. They overlook that the only emblems that truly befit their Japanese vehicles are Rising Sun (Japan’s flag) ones!

Anyway, when I see someone parking a Japanese car I want to say:“You’re hurting America’s economy.” But I don’t.

Instead, I tell myself, THEY JUST DON’T KNOW. The Japanese have been seducing them for years. They give their vehicles American-sounding names. And our media gives them billions in free advertising that they’re supposedly better.* And they flood us with seductive ads. So, no wonder so many buy the pitch.

*But see March ‘09 J.D. Roberts report: For reliability, Buick is No. 1, tops Lexus. And Lincoln & Mercury are in the top 5. Today, differences between Japanese and American, exist only in minds of persons influenced by media who push Japanese cars. Our media is BIASED and influences sales. This costs our economy dearly.

Yes, the Japanese get our media to promote their vehicles FOR FREE...and knock American makes. OUR media shoots OUR economy in the foot!

But the Japanese say:“Don’t forget, we give America jobs. Our cars are built in the US by Americans. They’re American.”

True, we do assemble some. And per the Japanese master plan this makes some people think they’re apple pie American. Well, that’s pure BALONEY!

Fact: MOST Japanese vehicles sold here come by boat from Japan. As to those assembled here, from them we get about 300,000 jobs. But WHAT A PRICE we pay for them!

And ask this: Irrespective of where this car or truck is assembled, or its parts come from, what country gets the profit from it? Fact: every year Japanese mother-corporations in Japan reap billions from vehicle sales in the US. Yes, almost 1/3 of their income comes from the US. And these billions benefit Japan, NOT America!

We’re Japan’s cash cow! This, despite almost 50 million with no health care, 37 million in poverty, 12 million kids hungry each day, 77,000 bridges close to collapse, highways crumbling, schools deteriorating, and unemployment 9% and climbing.

Considering that, we feed Japan? In return, can we build and sell cars there? No! They won’t buy “nuttin” from us! They’ve even refused to buy our apples. Unlike us, they’re fiercely loyal to their own products. They close their 160-million-person market to us. But they FEAST on America. They believe in fair trade everywhere but in Japan.

At least the Germans, who sell cars here, let us sell in Germany. And the Chinese do too. So do the French, Spanish, Italians, British, and Latin Americans. We build and sell American cars almost everywhere but in Japan.

As to jobs the Japanese so “generously” give us: as said we get about 300,000. But it’s estimated, we’ve already lost a million jobs from “JAPANESE-CAR-I-TIS.” And if we keep burying our heads in the sand about this, and our makers lose more market, estimates say up to 4 or 5 million more of us will lose jobs. And some predict with trickle-down it could be more like 6 million.

So, for 300,000 jobs, we lose 6 million? This is OK? We just turn our cheeks, let this happen?

NO! NO! That’s not the American way! We’re not quitters! We must fight back by supporting our own industry: FEED HANDS THAT FEED US!

DRIVE AMERICAN! Support our own economy, not Japan’s.

P.S. Please help. Use the email link at the top-upper-right to send this message to as many people as possible!

Im sorry but I am a Toyota DIE HARD! Im sorry to say it but those japenese know what they are doing when it comes to making a car or truck! I can drive my Tacoma for over 300,000 miles and if I bought american made it would maybe make it for 150,000 if I was lucky! I would rather spend my money on something that is extremly reliable rather than something that is crap and going to take a dump on me! I do beleive in supporting our own economy but I dont think that the car/ truck industry is the main cause for our econmoy going in the shitter, its all the americans that borrow way more money than they make in a year! They are living off of credit rather than the money they make!

Sarah, if you're not a Toyota saleslady, I'll eat my hat.

But anyway, the people in Japan just love you. Your words in support of their economy, are going to help keep the billions from the U.S.A, rolling each year.

But as to quality, which is the giveaway high pressure sales pitch of so many Japanese salespersons,

respectfully, suggest you Google Toyota lemons. You'll realize that you live in a glass house.

And by the way, on Google, you'll also find that Ford has more trucks on the road with more than 250,000 miles on them than any other make. Chevorlet is second. Ford and Chevie trucks will last long after your-easy-to-roll-over Tacoma is in the junk yard.(BYW,you better have good insurance on both your Tacoma and life, because those Tacomas set way too high for safety!!!!)

Lastly, if you're such a fan of Japan, remember:

JAPAN AIRLINES IS READY WHEN YOU ARE. They have some terrific one-way fares.

You do know, of course, that more than a few "Japanese" cars and trucks are built here, in the US, by American workers? They have jobs, while the Chrysler and GM and even some of the Ford folks are losing their jobs. Also - most of the parts on your Ford, or GM, or Chrysler? Where were they built? Oh, how about, um....China? Followed by South Korea and Japan? Followed by Mexico? They're about as "American" as your Sony TV set, your Apple Ipod, your Nike shoes, or most of the clothes you wear anymore.

It's not ideal, no. I'd love for an American company to build decent vehicles, using American workers, American parts, and American ingenuity that could compete with or surpass the imports. You let me know when that happens, will you?

Come on now, Wyoming M., you SELL JAPANESE VEHICLES! Some of us might have been born at night, but not last night.

What gives you away is you sell by trashing American competition. That's the standard pitch.

And it's unethical!

Also you insult and malign thousands and thousands of fine hard working people who build American vehicles. Where's your conscience?

Anyway, FAN OF JAPAN,

JAPAN AIRLINES IS READY WHEN YOU ARE! They have some real good one-way fares.

Yeah, nice try. Typical ignorant Topix poster. Nothing constructive to say, no meaningful input to add to the discussion, so you wave some jingoistic flag and go about your intellectually tepid day. Good luck sport, I wish you much success if this is the best you can do when debating an issue. Lol.

Since you asked: It happened years ago. Do some research.

If American parts, workers, and American ingenuity are things you truly value, then I can't understand why you would EVER consider driving foreign. The FACTS are clear. Buying American is the way to go.

The Big Three averaged 72% domestic parts for 2008. Foreign cars averaged only 33%.

http://www.levelfieldinstitute.org/files/scor...

Regarding the American workforce:

"Because Ford, GM and Chrysler conduct far more of their research, design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly work in the U.S. than foreign automakers do, buying a Ford, GM or Chrysler supports twice as many jobs as buying the average foreign automobile.

Buying a Ford supports six times more jobs than buying a Hyundai.

Autos assembled outside the U.S. by companies based here support significantly more U.S. jobs than autos assembled here by companies with most of their engineering, design and headquarter jobs located overseas.

For example, a Ford assembled in Mexico this year will likely support approximately six times more U.S. jobs as a Hyundai assembled in Alabama. It will also contain more U.S. and Canadian parts than Hyunda’s assembled in Alabama."

http://www.levelfieldinstitute.org/jpc_rating...

The Big Three produce quality vehicles year after year.

Fact: Per US News & World Reports, The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu ranks 1 out of 23 Affordable Midsize Cars.

Fact: Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com gave Chevy Tahoe Hybrid a 2009 Best Resale Value Award.

Fact: The 2009 Chevy Traverse was named a Consumers Digest 'Best Buy' winner.

Fact: US News & World Reports rated the 09 Chevy Silvardo as the Best full-size truck for the money

Fact: In 2009, Buick ranked the HIGHEST (tied only with Jaguar) in Dependability by J.D. Power.“Buick has ranked among the top 10 nameplates each year since the study was last redesigned in 2003"

Fact: J.D. Power & Associates has named Ford Ranger the Highest Ranked Midsize Pick-Up in its 2009 Vehicle Dependability Study.

Fact: Ford Motor Company has earned more “Top Safety Pick” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) than any other automaker with a total of 16 to date. Ford Flex, Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKS and Mercury Milan – achieved “Top Safety Pick” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Fact: Kelley Blue Book named Ford Motor Company winner of the 2009 Brand Image Award for the “Most Rugged Truck Brand”

Fact: The Ford F-150 has been the U.S.'s TOP selling vehicle for 27 years straight. Chevy's Silverado and GMC's Sierra are 2 and 3rd.

Fact: The Ford F-Series and Ford Flex are rated as two of the 10 Best New Cars of 2009 by BusinessWeek.

Fact: Ford has has more trucks on the road with 250,000 miles than any other brand.

The point is you need to reread the following that Moxie pointed out:
_________

"Because Ford, GM and Chrysler conduct far more of their research, design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly work in the U.S. than foreign automakers do, buying a Ford, GM or Chrysler supports twice as many jobs as buying the average foreign automobile.

Buying a Ford supports six times more jobs than buying a Hyundai.

__________

And then reread this that I wrote and posted above (it's not that difficult to understand; just try harder):

"... irrespective of where this [a] car or truck is assembled, or its parts come from, what country gets the profit from it? Fact: every year Japanese mother-corporations in Japan reap billions from vehicle sales in the US. Yes, almost 1/3 of their income comes from the US. And these billions benefit Japan, NOT America!

I drive a Nissan Altima. I used to live in Smryna , TN., outside of Nahville. It is home to Nissan's largest U.S. assembly plant. I PERSONALLY know several friends who "work the line" at the plant. It doesn't get anymore American-made than that.

I love these "buy American" clowns (I tend to think they're UAW hacks). A Nissan is more "American" than a Ford or GM is , if you look at where the parts , engine , drive-shaft , etc. were assembled. Like a previous post stated , Ford manufacturers most of their pick-ups (their top-selling vehicle) in St.Thomas , Ontario , Canada. Hardly American made.

Just keep buying the UAW propaganda , and I'll continue to drive/enjoy my AMERICAN made Nissan.

Romper Stomper,

You're obviously another person who in someway is connected with the Japanese. So, no wonder you use sophistry to try to hide, obscure, and obfuscate the truths written above which boil down to:

THE JAPANESE ARE RIPPING US OFF.

So, I also say to you:

JAPAN AIRLINES IS READY WHEN YOU ARE. They have some terrific one-way fares.

Yes, you're right and it is:

Japan is feeding off our economy, We're being taken for a ride. The Japanese believe in fair and free trade everywhere in the world but in Japan.

Oh Good God, Everyone that drives a Japanese car is not working for a Japanese company. I drive a Chevy and I'm aware of this. The car companies are not the only reason that our economy is in the toilet. If you look at the time stream, it started with over spending, a society that is all about instant gratification, buy now, pay later, and the fact that we went through a few years when gas prices broke everyone so that they couldn't pay their bills. Has everyone already forgotten the $4+ gas we had to buy just last year? There are a great many variables that led to the fix we are in now.
My guess is that iluvAmerica is a laid off GM employee. Fact is, hardly anyone can afford a new car, regardless of where it's made. The government already gave the money we might have been able to use to buy things to the fat cow companies in this country, and did not force them to give any accountability for what they did with the money, and we got nothing for it!
We did it to ourselves, with our complacent attitudes that nothing could ever change in good old America. Unfortunately, many haven't learned a thing. They are throwing our freedoms away and turning America into a communist country. I said two years ago that if everyone didn't wake up and take a stand, we soon wouldn't have a country. I think now it may be too late.

Pondering,

You sure do a lot of pondering. Too bad what you ponder here is a tad too much off point.

Here's an update item from CBS that's on point:

Toyota accused of " ‘ruthless conspiracy’ to keep evidence ‘of its vehicles' structural shortcomings from becoming known.’"

Wasn't the point at least in part about the economy? The economy and all else happening in our country, is tied together. It's not all caused by one variable. If you are going to fixate on one issue, and ignore all the rest, then you are never going to see the whole picture.
The entire economy of the planet is not caused purely because people drive Japanese made cars. Though, it might play a singular part.
