I beleive the dress code has and will improve the kids out look on school. The clothes have to be cheaper on the parents when jeans and certian styles these kids want to wear are so expensive and of course they have to have brand names! this way, no one can point out who's poor and who isn't. most important it will slow down on the threat groups forming in school. They can concetrate on their studies instead of the girl or boy next to them with a outragious outfit on.When I look out my window watching the kids come home from school. Makes me proud Anderson has made a good step towards consisitency and care about their students ability to learn in a good invironment. Any parent that disaagrees with this needs to think more of their childrens studies and their future instead of their style of dress. School is not a model show. They should think of how they could have a better future than maybe we have now. Education is number one. I am so proud of our kids and what Anderson has done so far imposing the dress code. Way-to-go!!!!

I hate dress code. How many of you that want dress code have actually had to wear it? Dress codes don't help you learn. They don't keep you from being bad. I don't care what you say, that's what I think, so everyone freaking SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!! I should know, I have to wear it everyday for 9 months.

Well, I know that I am reviving old conversations with this, but I couldn't help myself. All this talk of individuality being suppressed by school uniforms is foolish. If children's personalities are being based on the clothes they wear, then it's a pretty shallow world that we live in. I believe that popularity in schools should be judged on student's personality, not on the clothes they wear.

Im doing debates at school and I happen to get pro on dress codes, which is fine with me because I think dress codes wouldn't be so bad because if we wore a standard type of clothing, mostly uniforms, it would, I think create less distraction and be able to focus on schoolwork. Plus trying to find something to where in the morning gets pretty annoying.Just think,if we didnt have a dress code and some decides not to wear clothes or exetremely revealing clothes, would you want to allow that? I say school isnt a fashion show, because your there for education not what to wear.^_^ Thats my opinion.
Actually, I am in the exact same position, Kate. You probably won't answer, but did you get some of what you said off of sites for this topic? I say this because I recognize some of what you said from info that I have gathered myself.

Adults always seem to feel like they know us 100% because they are older and they have been here... F**K that... You did good man, don't let the old people run our lives!!! Joe 17

Yes... I am sure we are all quite "uneduated", but if your going to base educational stand points on ones preference of words I suggest you pick up a dictionary. Not cussing is a matter of ethics and morality not educational level.
I'm 17 years old and to be honest I'm sick and tired of seeing dumb@ss adults telling us were stupd when many of us are already smarter than you.
ps: I quoted "your" grammer there it wasn't a typo on my behalf. It educated dumb@$$ not eduated
Th yeah btw. "they are not welcome on Topix or anywhere else on the internet as well!" This is a very ignorant statement on your behalf. You don't like it? Then keep your big mouth shut and complain about it to yourself. The internet is a welcome environment for everyone and you have no right to decide who should and shouldn't be aloud on it.
Yada yada F#CK YOU have a nice day.:P
Oh yes and about the dress code. I'd like to make it clear that the main reason for the original establishment of the dresscode was not to prepare people for the working world and I am quite sure it still isn't. The true reason for the dresscode is for the publics view upon the school. Of course the schools would never admit this, but last time I checked they never gave anyone a solid reason for it either. 1. theres no way on earth "clothes" are going to make you work better. 2. When I was a freshman I asked the principle what the dresscode was about. I was told it was a safety issue to keep people from bringing weapons into the school. Didn't make much since considering weapons could easily be brought in by backpack. The next year I asked the same principle the same question and I was then told that the dresscode was to discourage against bad behaviour. Which again didn't make much sense. Yes people do often dress via social standpoint, but that doens't define who they are and it wont change them either. You can dress a bum up in silk threads, but he's not going to act highclass.
The real reason for the dresscode is for the reputation of the establishment and nothing else. Your adults you should know this. You already know thats the reason they have it in the workplace.(no it's not for the purpose of sensitivity towards fellow works thats just a load and if you believe it I hope you learn from what I say) So why would it be any different from a school? Public schools are funded, but they also get money from the students.(lunch money ect...) The more students the more budget they have to work with and while this does sound nice it is not the right way to approach the problem. You shouldn't be teaching your children to look pretty for others to make things easier. you whould be teaching them that they shouldn't judge others so quickly so such extremes aren't necessary.
Anyway thats the bell so I gtg. Cyah.

Every individual is unique as created by God. Making everyone look the same is against the teachings of Christ. Uniforms are too militant, makes people look like robots, and aggravates freedom.

everyone makes an amazing point, but I don't think some people understand that sometimes the way a child dresses shows their personal style taste and that helps the in confedence. I know when I wear my clothes, I think hey I look good scru what other people have to say I'm happy. I have had people make a comment about my clothing. There were comments made of not liking my choice and liking my choice in clothing. I say this if you aren't wearing it then why worry about what I'm wearing.

I dont think kids should take advantage of the fact they are getting a choice to wear their own clothes...

I go to a school and are dress code for girls makes me mad. I have a jump suit from aeropostale and it has aeropostale on the butt. I can't wear that because it draws attention. SORRY GUYS ARE GOING TO CHECK A GIRL OUT WHETHER THEY HAVE WRITING ON THEIR BUTT OR NOT!

I am a girl with boobs, the good lord blessed me with a pair of large Cs', but if I show one inch or centimeter of cleavage line I get suspended. Please someone comment and tell me how stupid that is.

I'm not saying uniforms are good nor are the bad, I'm just saying I think kids should get a choice and express what they want from the teachers.

My school is a respective school. Yes people fight and stuff, but we all know when to get serious about stuff and if they let us say somethings we want to say, they might see where we come from and think stuff over more before making a final decision.

i don't think uniforms do any good either, kids are going to do what ever they want to wether its in khakis and a polo or a mini skirt and t-shirt, they still find ways to do things, and if you wanted to fix the problem of one kid having a more expensive uniform than someone else, the school just needs to pick a company and only uniforms ordered from that one company would be allowed to be worn, all the parents would have to do is submit their schools name and the sizes their children need and there you have, everyone dressed the same, it still won't change gang activities or the sexual activities of the students.

omg-its-baby-b,

what you don't understand is that showing off your body is not self expression, its disrespecting your self in the worst way, you're showing the men in the world what you have and to come and get, and they will, with or without your permission. They will tear you down and tell you that your only good for what you have between your legs, you should have more respect for your self than that. I'm sure your a smart girl and could be what ever you wanted to be but in order to get there you need to show the world your brains, not your breasts.

I disagree. I have two sons ages 9 and 12 and I basically let them wear what they want as long as it doesn't have cuss words etc..
I think Anderson should just leave it alone.
If you ever walked into Anderson Hogh School and saw for yourself what girls are wearing you would be taken back a few steps. I was! The majority dress very slutty and the boys arnt dressed any better. I dont think a uniform is in order but strict regulations on what is appropiate in public school dress should be enforced. Again we are not talking about children in grade schools whom are dressed by their parents o guardians...We are talking about teens with it all hanging out. I was shocked!
