Drugs and Crime in Lancaster city.

I have lived in Lancaster City for the past 40 years and find it quite peaceful, Crime is not bad at all. the block I live on is occupied by all home owners. I have taken 2am walks in what many of you uninformed people consider bad neighborhoods and was never bothered by anyone - compared to many places that my friends live including rural areas, Lancaster City is by far a safer environment. So I don't know where you got your facts but they are blatantly wrong. Lancaster is a diversified and loving place to live.

He lives around Buchannan Park and F&M college. Nobody considers those bad areas. Lancaster is NOT safer than the rural areas around it. Do you read the local news.

lancaster pa is probably the safest city i have ever been to. I've seen small towns with only a couple thousand people have more issues with violence than lancaster(coatesville, darby, mckeeseport) People in lancaster just are not very dangerous at all. That is why i don't understand all the cameras in the city. Lancaster had like 10 homicides in 5 years and they are almost all domestic violence. Sorry Lancaster Facts but your statements are fiction

Lancaster, PA was voted best Metropolitan area to live in by USA Today.

No city is going to be safer than the rural area's around it. But as far as city living goes Lancaster is a completely safe, wonderful, and beautiful city. By the way I live in the North Eastern part of the city and I walked the whole way from downtown back to home last night around 1130 pm this is about a 1 1/2 mile walk, was not bothered by one person, in fact most people I passed even said hello. You're biggest problem is you are reading way to much into local news. Pick up a paper anywhere in the world and you are going to find bad stories.

I agree that Lancaster city is relatively safe but there still is a big difference between walking around the general hospital at 11:30 at night and say the Roberto Clemente corridor in the SE section of the city. My friend was walking down strawberry street and somebody came out of an alley and hit him in the face with a shotgun and went through his pockets as he layed there. The NE section of the city is probably the most beautiful section with all the work Lancaster General hospital done in that area. As safe as Lancaster is there are still sections you should not walk around at night. I lived in the SW section for years until 2009 and really never got any hellos as I walked places. Lancaster still has a higher robbery rate than MOST cities in PA and could still use more work. My mother recently moved off the 400 block of Lafayette street because she was robbed at knife point while walking to her car for work.

Lancaster city is not much different then the surrounding communities, look at the police logs, especially Manhein and Ephrata, Columbia. Crime knows no boundries, Theres just as many irresponsible parents in the suburbs as in Lancaster. As for pit bulls, theres alot of great pit bull pets all over, I have one, perfect family dog. Consider that of the dozens of dogs taken from M. Vick all but two were placed in homes and have had no problems at all. Blame the owners who mistreat their dogs, not the dog.

I think crime and drugs is every where you go I just moved back to Lancaster about a month ago from Greenville SC yes it looked just as pretty as Lancaster but looks can fool you it is just as bad there as it is in Lancaster I think its how you live if you live for trouble then trouble is there but you live for peace then you have peace you can live in your house and no one could know your even there only when you come and good and a lot has to do with the company people keep i'm just saying not to start anything but everyone have good comments and opinions

Drugs are every where and everybody knows that. Oh and weed is grown in the suburbs. Why is it that many folks (white people) are quick to talk shit and bash the city because of some weed sales? Correct me if I am wrong, but the majority of pedifiles are white. It angers me to turn on the tv and see another white man arrested for having sex with little kids. So need I even say that the real issue is all you white pedifiles fucking little kids? It's amazing you are more concerned about weed sales rather than worrying about the kids that live in your own town. Damn hypocrites!
