The ditch (Delaware Canal State Park) is a colossal waste of resources. They are in the process of dumping something like 38 million dollars into this 60 mile piece of crap.
Every time it floods we get more propane tanks and picnic tables etc. washed up on the islands in the river and this isn't even going into the damage that is done to the canal itself.
The ditch must go...
I agree wit Pa park ranger. About 15 years ago they dredged out the canal in the Washington Crossing area. A few years latter it had very little water in and turned into a stinky mosquito breading mud hole. Then when it did have water in it they would stock it with trout for opening day so the so call fisherman could trash the canal path with there garbage and leave their fishing lines and hooks stuck in the trees and water. FILL IN THE Canal!!!! Use it for a great bike and walking path. Then maybe we could get the bike riders off River Road (no shoulder no place to ride and they still ride side by side). It is just a big waste of money.
