100 U.S. female service members have died in Iraq

The death of an Air Force technical sergeant in Iraq last week quietly ushered in a somber milestone: 100 American female service members now have died in Iraq, according to a CNN count of Pentagon figures.

Sgt. Jackie L. Larsen, age 37, of Tacoma Washington was the 100th female military service member to die in Iraq. Larsen was assigned to the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, Beale Air Force Base, Calif. Larsen served as superintendent of the legal office. She reportedly died of natural causes.

4,124; the number of service members killed.

Why is the 100th woman dying in Iraq anymore important than any other death? It is no more important than the 1st, 1000th, 2000th, 3000th, 4000th or any of the others. The deaths of all our brave men and women in uniform are sad and we owe them our deepest gratitude.

"Johanson" Your question was why is the 100th woman dying in Iraq any more important than any other death? The story spoke of a somber milestone. I don't think the person's logic who originally wrote the story. and put it on the wire intended for it to be taken that Sgt. Jackie L. Larsen death was more important then all those that have made the ultimate sacifcte.

My prayers and condolence to the family, friends and community. May God Give you strength and wisdom.
My prayers are with all who are serving their country, and gratitude to those that have served.

I can see your point, but what I don't see is the lives of our military being used as "milestones."

I think that by writing stories about a "milestone" death, it diminishes the others who have lost their lives.

Our brave men and women put their lives on the line for us, and each and every loss is tragic; they make the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and my prayers are with their families and those who continue to serve.
