No on T, cut out the stuff that isn't needed, focus on math, english, science, physical education and health and possibly history. Arts, Foreign Languages, Music, Drama, Dance to name a few should be extras, if there is enough money left over or provided by the parents.

NO tax hike! Does LBUSD not have to pull in its belt like everyone else? Produce better results than come to us for more money. Make do with what you have just like the rest of us and the City do.

These former politicians are doing a reenactment of the keystone cops. They see tax revenues to everything plummeting, and so they say we've got to get more, ignoring or downplaying what happened just recently with trying to raise similar taxes. But, their bigger blunder is what they must believe about the economy. While it can get confusing listening to a mass of propaganda about the recovery which is just around the corner, one needs only to look at the economy as a physical reality to see it is in a breakdown process, and the only thing rising is a huge mass of money.

Wasn't it just last year that Long Beach taxpayers were suckered into approving something over $1 billion in a bond issue for the schools, restorationa and construction of facilities? All this while the real graduation rate hovers just under 50%.

What exactly is the 'stuff that is not needed? Do you have kids in our district?' The LBUSD has already cut deeply. If you have kids in grades K-3 there is a good chance that those classrooms are going to get much bigger.

I'm sure the district will improve when you start cutting teachers. This is bass ackwards thinking. The school district lost millions of dollars from the state and has cut tens of million already (pulling up their belt as you say) over the last 2 years. If you value your child's education you should reconsider your stand. This is one of the best urban school districts in the country, but obviously not without faults. Our district will surely suffer as there will be loss of $95 million over the next two years.

I wonder if anyone at the district office has considered the inefficiency of having two separate elections for (1) this tax and (2) the replacement for Mike Ellis. Perhaps we could bill TALB for (2).

There is conflicting information coming from the Long Beach Unified School District. Measure T puts out alot of propoganda in order to say one thing, "the money will go for teachers salaries". Mr. Stallings, the CFO for the District says the money will go to salaries, but the Measure and Mr. Steinhauser make another claim.

Teachers are valuable, but that does not mean they should not be vulnerable to cuts in salary and benefits, just like everyone else.

I heard a statement made my a teacher recently, "we sent to school with a pen or pencil, paper and a book". The LBUSD, even though they are an award winning school district, need to return to basics. Money is not the answer.

what????? how much is enough? all the tax money "for the school" mainly went to staffs, benefits, and pension. what has it done for the student? we keep on throwing billions and billions and it's never enough. stop using our children as a front to steal our money. families are cutting anything and everything just to make it. do you ever think about the tax payers and what stealing more of what little they have left will do to them and their families? the tax payers in the private sectors don't get the benefits, job security, and great pensions like the school unions. we are not a cash cow and we do not have endless amount of money to be stolen by the politicians and their pimps the unions. screw you... live in reality like we all do and make cuts like we have to.

those whom are democrats and republicans followers and supporters... they are all the same, thieves, liars, and whores. the economy is at the bottom, parents loosing jobs left and right, and we all have to make extreme cuts just to make it month to month BUT these politicians on both sides want to steal more of what little we have left. don't you get it, they don't give a crap about you or your family. they see you as cash cow only. they don't live the life we live. they don't struggle like we struggle. they are not hurting like we are. how long will you blindly follow the parties that screw you every chance they get?

I'm proud that we are finally going to address paying for all of the massive spending our pols did in our name.

We should end Prop13 and increase our personal
State income tax by at least 25%, add 4% more to our local parcel tax.

Our children didn't sell the state party to the unions......we did and we must not crush our kids because of our pitiful lack of reasoned judgment.

I listed some of the stuff not needed, go back and read my statement again. No, I don't have any kids in the district and when I do have kids will probably move somewhere with better schools. The district has been falling apart for years, it's the teachers, the staff, the administration. The parents at home are getting worse as well, they blame the schools when the blame is on them. Less money would be spent if the parents prepared their children for school, mine did.

They are FAT with administrators. Cutting teachers just shows you what they are willing to do to get more money out of you. There is a lot of money that can be eliminated BEFORE any cuts to classes or instruction. Look at their budget!

Why do LBUSD high schools need two principals? It just shows how poorly things are managed and how bad the thinking is. Every organization with two heads is a non performing organization. Start there and you will save a lot of money.

I think Lewd did a good job of stating what is needed and I agree with him. Any class that is not academic may be fun but is not necessary. The parents need to step up and foot the bill for private tutoring for the non academic classes if they want their children to learn them until the district is back in the black. Which will probably be never!

All of the lies and claims in the world by these so called leaders and teachers do not change one very clear fact.

You can not stop a charging bull from running down hill at you by throwing money at it.

Two principles mean more Union members to pay Union dues to be used to elect Left Wing Lunatics who will put the best interests of the Union over our children.

How do we know that the state won't simply divert funds to other communities that didn't raise their own?

How do we know the state won't divert even more money to school districts that don't raise their own?
