The Daily news has an article online about this -
http://www.thedailynews.cc/main.asp... Boiled down, there's a new traffic light at the intersection of M57 and M66 that automatically detects cars approaching, and will switch to "green" at their approach. "Only" costs $1000 more per light, only good in rural areas where the lights go to "flash" at night, and oh yeah only works at night,...but supposed to last longer, cost less to operate, lower maintenance cost. These lights are good...but plowing the roads for winter would be better. MDOT in charge of both. Why is there money for lights, but not roads? |

Well don't scratch another hole in yer head thinkin bout this one...you already answered yer own question:
"...but supposed to last longer, cost less to operate, lower maintenance cost." This will pay for itself soon enough; The Fuel cost, vehicle maintenance(esp.W/ MI roads), and man-hours on payroll are ongoing. Duh |
