Goodwin Captures INEX Michigan Title –Ranked 5th in the Nation

Fifteen year old driving sensation #29 Garett Goodwin, of Three Oaks Michigan, finished fifth in the Nation, in INEX points, on his way to capturing the INEX Michigan State title AND the Grundy County Speedway Young Lions Championship in his Jimmy Hansen Motorsports prepared legends car.

Goodwin amassed an impressive resume with twelve Young Lions wins, eight overall feature wins, twenty four “top five” finishes and an impressive total of twenty nine “top ten” finishes.

Showing his versatility as a driver, Goodwin traveled across the country to compete against the BEST legends racers in the nation. Goodwin raced away from home several times with laps logged in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Wyoming and Colorado to his credit. During his travels out west Goodwin captured the Mountain Classic Championship after competing in races in Colorado and Wyoming over one weekend.

Goodwin is quick to point out that he owes his success in 2009 to his mentor Jimmy Hansen of Jimmy Hansen Motorsports, his business manager Troy Barber and most importantly his parents Rick and Shelly for their support of his passion for racing.

Goodwin will represent Michigan as their state champion at the prestigious INEX National Awards Banquet in Charlotte North Carolina. Many of today’s top NASCAR drivers have walked across the INEX stage as part of their driver development. The ability to win a title in legends cars confirms to the racing community that you have the talent to make it to the highest levels of the sport.

Garett should stand tall at the banquet as he receives his awards. He represented his sponsors, Hansen Motorsports and most importantly his home state of Michigan proudly and professionally in 2009.
