After my weekly visit to Austin Park today I was astounded in the condition of the Clearlake cities park. Have you no shame in what you offer your residents in regards to their Tax Paying dollars ?
The park is a CESSPOOL that requires a complete revamp. This has nothing to do with cutbacks or lack of funding, this has to do with a community that just DOES NOT CARE! What an embarrassment to the visitors or tourists who visit the area. Gee I wonder "Why Do They Not Come Back?" Show some Pride. I visit the park year round and the lawns are completely unmaintained, with the lake within 50 yds., They are not irrigated as they should or the sprinklers are set to irrigate the trash littered sidewalk instead of the grass itself. The weeds are horrible, the litter and broken glass are everywhere, not to mention the Graffiti on the tables and unpainted benches. The trees are untrimmed and branches are broken, the light fixtures are miss matched with substandard cheap replacements. As a "City" you owe your residents much more, and something to be proud of that they can show their visiting friends or family members instead of them concealing it in shame! While we are on this topic you might want to improve the restrooms at the park to conform with State and County Health Code Standards which has not been done. Maybe Mr. Thompson should empty his bladder there. And lastly the same above comments also pertain to the "Ball Park" Diamond next to Austin Park that is also a DISCRACE... What a SHAME

A perfect example of the local governments lack of truly helping the business sector as well as the private sector. I see no right, in paying salaries to department heads who are not doing their job. If this means having office personal, shut down early, and grab brooms and shovels to get the job done, so be it. If the budgets don't cover selected employee's to do the task, then, keep the office hours, shorter, and hit the areas that are not being maintained. If the public wants longer hours at their offices, raise the tax base. You can't tell me the city office are so busy 24 7, that they need to stay open as long as they do.

I say this, not in a mean spirit, but pointing out the fact that if your being paid to maintain the parks, then you better find a way to do it, or get someone who can.

I find it very ironic that those who argued against the business park at the airport are now biyatching about a lack of City services that could have been paid for by the new airport project.

Our sewer fees went up 40%, but the county government just took that money out of our pockets. No benefit to the city. If you think that we are being screwed from all sides, you are correct.

You really don't get it, do you?
Thousands out of work in Lake County, and almost zero available jobs.
C'mon, use your math skills.

5,000 out of work in Lake County
- 20 available jobs in Lake County
_______
4,980 jobs needed in Lake County

You greenies don't understand math, heh?

The last big slash to our economy was closing the dispensaries eliminating millions in tax dollars and jobs. A lot fewer garden supply businesses are open as well. Those damn greenies.
