Redding Record Searchlight News Paper

I don't know how many times the Record Searchlight calls you folks around here but thet call me at least once a month. And most of the time they get very persistant and quite rude when I tell them I'm not interested in prescribing to their newspaper. But did you know that these telephone solicitors are calling you from other states and maybe even another country. Yes, I just got another one tonight calling from St. Louis. About two weeks ago I got a call from I don't know where, all I could understand was they were talking about the Record Searchlight. And everytime they call I tell them not to call back! But what really upsets me is I thought we were suppose to keep our jobs and money in our community. Here our local newspaper is hiring out jobs to other states and countrys and for that reason alone I would never subscribe to their newspaper. I don't know about you?

And, uh, George... what's your interest in the Record SL?? In response to Barbara, I take the Record & it's a pretty good local paper. I don't know about the subscription calls as I've only lived here 3 mos. & subscribed as soon as I moved into town.

The paper is not the problem, its who they employ. They are looking for a job to support their families, just like the majority of our country.

What bothers me is telemarketers call 10 - 20 times a day, and with unknown person on caller id. do not call registery does not seam to work for these campanies and the phone companies wont deal with them on harrasing call reports.
Most do not even speak english very well.

It use to just be the 'ol hung up button, now they call you back 30 seconds and another 30 seconds latter.

I get more calls from them than I do my friends and family.

1. RS outsources their telemarketing and collection calls because their call center locally is too small to make all those calls.

2. According to the FCC, a business can contact you if you have done business with them in the last 18 months.

3. If you want solicitation calls to stop, call the paper and have them put you on their local DNC list. They have to merge their file with the national file every 30 days. They can also contact all their contracted call centers and remove you from their lists as well.

4. The local customer service at RS is nice and can handle your calls. You do not have to try to contact someone outside the Redding area. They are local people working in the local office.

Regarding the crop bust this week. You have underestimated us Shingletown residents. With the Sheriffs substation closed due to budget cuts and protection an hour away, we WILL defend our property and we WILL defend our right to privacy that includes posted no trespassing being ignored. Has anyone heard anything about a notice on Craigslist that the Redding Record Searchlight was sold to someone named Donny Greenberg from the east coast? I can't seem to find anything online, but I am not sure of the spelling of the name.
