The whole thing is nothing more than a shell game to keep us distracted from the fact that we are still floating on a
false economy. Neither party is going to save anyone from
a looming economic disaster.

SUXboy and Burnt Rearend are just a couple of partisan shills that just can't see beyond a ballot box. These two parrots merely copy
and paste other peoples work.

With over 13 million people (which is under-reported) out of work and a potential war with Iran which will put gas prices through
the roof and cause more unemployment, where is our precious
government going to get the funds needed to fund Social Security?.

Decades of greedy rich pigs feeding at the government trough has helped to put us in a shaky economy. We can't blame it all on
Shrub and Oblamo.

My republican party is not the same party I grew up with, they are too extreme to the right and want to win against Obama no matter at what cost! They do not care about the nation, its people or nothing! most of them are selling their soul to the devil. They no longer see me as a woman but as a vote and not caring whether my human rights as a female gets violated. A true woman able to stand on her two feet will not support today's republican party.
The Democrat party is seen as too extreme to the left, as well. They certainly don't care about the working voters or the nation, except during election year.

It really doesn't matter any more, who you vote for. The middle class is doomed anyway. I just don't care for Socialism.

NRH man:

I have been reading this interesting thread. I do not know where you get your history, but you are simply repeating gosh knows what.

1) Reagan did not tear down the Berlin Wall. If you want to give credit to someone, give credit to George F. Kennan, "The Long Telegram" and the policy of containment.

2) FDR did not get elected because of some sort of corrupt machine...he got elected because the economy collapsed in 1929 and Hoover and the GOP did very little about it right through 1932.

3) If you look at GDP and unemployment numbers in the 1930s, one sees that economic conditions began to improve almost as soon as FDR got into office...beginning with the "Bank Holiday." It continued to improve till 36-37 when there was a small blip when FDR cut back on New Deal programs.

4) GDP and unemployment were almost recovered, and on an uphill trajectory even before spending began for WW 2.

I know Rush Limbaugh and Beck say different, but their conclusions are not in line with the evidence.

I don't believe anything that either of those trolls post. They will post anything their troll handlers tell them to.
Does anyone really believe that Romney or the repubs would immediately end social security? Romney has said repeatedly that there would be no change for anyone under 55. And, if nothing is done at all, there won't be ANY type of benefits for anyone under 55 anyways because the govt will be broke.

So if someone says something that you disagree with, they are just "repeating gosh knows what"? I find it pretty funny that anyone who disagrees with the liberal mantra is accused of being stupid or is just repeating what they heard someone else say, and the usual names are limbaugh or beck.
I have not commented on Reagan or the Berlin wall. And my only comment on FDR was that he wasn't the econonomic saviour that we have all been told he was. We have been spoon fed that line and it, like anything in history, isn't as simple as most believe.

This has nothing to do with politics. I was in error about Berlin Wall--that was Texasn.

Whatever the case, you are stating historic "facts" that do not line up with the evidence.

People of the past did not live their lives to make us feel good. Nor did they live their lives to validate a particular political ideology in 2012.

Here is some advice, whenever a politician of either party, or an AM talk show host, or even a minister (outside of the context of their faith, of course) says "history says" be very, very leery of what they say.

I will give you a non-political example. Many people in the US have been taught that people thought the world was flat.

Demonstrably untrue. Everyone who thought about it, back to Plato, knew the world was round. Heck, we have Roman and Greek writers who say as much. We have Roman coins with a round globe, we have Medieval & Roman maps of a round globe.

One must be careful about "history" that you hear from pundits and "common knowledge."

Especially if the pundits have any conservative leanings. OK, got it.

The debate over FDR has no relevance to the damage that Obama has done to this country. This is observation of the current condition of this country,
not recorded history by different individuals with differing viewpoints.

Looking at the history of FDR, there is so much differing of opinion, that one can come to their own conclusions. Quite frankly, I didn't live in that era so I don't have a real opinion and don't care. It won't leave any more money in my puny little paycheck after taxes.

Just a wild guess, but I would bet on the religious leaders of the time were trying to keep the common folks in the dark.

To give examples...in the 1500s in England it was thought that tomatoes were poisonous and that bathing was unhealthy.By the"commoners".Hardl y anyone then even knew how to write or read.But.they were supposed to have known the earth was round? For most people then just staying alive took up all their efforts.Philosophizing on the shape of the earth was not a priority. You seem to assert that EVERYBODY knew the earth was round.Could you provide documentation?

While everyone wants to debate over our elected puppets and the lies /half-truths from the Lame stream media, there is a
totally different agenda afoot.

9/11 was used as an excuse to lock this country down and people are being used as electronic Guinea pigs for some nice new DARPA toys against their will and the Constitution, as well. This has been going on for decades.

Peoples rights were being violated through the abuse of
"probable cause", now thanks to the sheep that wanted to "feel safer" after 9/11, the PATRIOT ACT and NDAA was passed
to make life easier for our fascist government to invade
and destroy lives. Just ask some of our war vets who find
out the hard way that they are branded as "terrorists".

Now the sheeple can't take a flight without going through the naked picture scanner or being groped by the perverts,
employed by the TSA.

Technology to actually read your mind is on the way. Only a fool would think it's for their own good. Here is some
evidence of that.

There was a time when possession of a Bible was very dangerous. They would kill a person for it.Reading that Bible and drawing your own conclusions was not allowed.ONLY"trained " Catholic priests were allowed this.In essence making it easier to control the worshipers. What happened when regular people got hold of Bibles and read them? Protestantism happened. The LAST thing the Catholic Church wanted.
