Bright flash in the sky Saturday morning 5:45am

My husband was outside working and between 5:30am and 5:45am he and another co-worker (in another area) saw a very bright flash in the sky. Not like lightning or a shooting star. But bright enough it really startled them. Did anyone else see this?

Really strange, but sometimes lightning can travel horizontally through clouds with no visable "bolt" of lightning to see. Just a very bright cloud. But, I don't know if there even were clouds that morning. Hope your husband is not too freaked out.
