Here is a thought! If the residents of Antioch are so concerned with the care they might receive from a person who gives up time with their family to help yours, then gather up your friends and go to school and learn to do it yourself. I think it's time to start treating those that are here to help you with a little respect because those who caused the issue are gone( excluding of course the board)! The number of people left is dwindling and it's because they can't eat dinner in your town without people being nasty towards them. This is truely sad!
There were no people that caused a problem. It's just people trying to get money. That's the sad part, honesty is non-existant anymore.

Hello antioch!! If you are not paying attention to what's going on in your town, then you need to start listening.Your day time people get paid for their service to your community!! The night time people are volunteers and you think this is ok!! It's time to say we want to know we will have medical help when we need it!! Antioch can grow into a great town if your board would allow it!! All the major retailers would love your town, but someone is keeping them out!! More buisness equals more tax money= better service!! Fire runs do many calls that are false alarms!! Almost all rescue calls are real medical needs.. Who deserves your support and taxes?

Sounds to me like someone is ramping up to try to obtain a political position soon. It's called stirring the pot.Just because we all want to know "WHO" is keeping "THEM" out.

No "WHO" and no "THEM" ! Let's tell it like it was. The business's that were coming had the board approval to build and because of the downturn in the economy the developer dropped the ball big time , he couldn't even get it done with a new proposed sales tax.The fire / rescue had nothing to do with the developers failure.

Basically though, Antioch is busy enough to have a full time fire/rescue dept. I for one would feel better knowing that properly trained people were coming to take care of me or my loved ones.
What the heck would even make you begin to believe that not having a full time fire/rescue system would prevent any of those businesses from coming here? Out of this whole 30+ pages of stupidity and ignorance that has to take the cake. I can not imagine that any of you have ever tried to serve a community in a fashion or position that made a difference or had any affect whatsoever. Any decent moderator would of locked this useless, pointless pissing contest long ago.

So what is so different with the properly trained people you speak of? Let's see if the fire dept had ambulances they would have licensed EMT and licensed Paramedics. They get those license from the same place every fire dept member has.. Hey guess what, they are both educated the same. You ignorant moron.

"Turning places (I assume you mean businesses) away". Really? Name one. Careful with what you say because no Village Board in the last 20 years has turned "places" away for any reason. As far as fire and rescue being properly trained, they all are. They cannot serve without training and certification. Are some better than others? Sure. Just as it would be with full timers.

If you want full time fire and rescue, get out your wallet. I hope it has millions in it you are willing to hand out.

Lastly, no business has "pulled out" because of volunteers. 70% of fire fighters and fire departments are volunteers. Nationwide. Not sure about rescue squads nationwide, but if the personnel are trained and licensed and properly managed, who cares? The issue at ARS does not seem to be with the group as a whole. Time to look at its management and possibly a few bad actors in the bunch. The Village is. The State of Illinois is. Competent ARS personnel are a blessing to the community and are not the problem.

Looking forward to reading your list of businesses that were turned away or stayed away. Use all the space you need between here and the end of this sentence.

"More news" is the same old same old news. Lets wait for the courts to decide the legitimacy of any of these claims. Until then, the rest of this is just a useless tit for tat war of words. It's a shame.

Wait? What do you need, a mountain to drop on you? What part of this is a God awful mess don't you get? Unless you are an ARS manager, you're out of your mind. If you are an ARS manager, GO AWAY!

What the heck are you talking about? Evidently, in your eyes these people are already convicted of some sort of crime without a trial. What part of that don't YOU get? Now, why don't YOU go away now?

You obviously did not read the article. Are you suggesting that the Illinois Dept of Health is fabricating stories? Good luck with that one. The walls are crashing in on the rescue squad. Multiple lawsuits and this must be a big distraction. I have nothing against the people doing the job, but management must be held accountable. Where there is smoke, there is fire. Especially when a non political state agency is saying what they are saying. They do not do this kind of thing lightly. And as a concerned resident and potential user of the rescue squad at some point in the future, you can COUNT on ME not going away on this issue. Nor will any resident once they know about what is going on.

This is the IL Dept. of Public Health's letter. It has multiple issues that they have investigated and found to be true. They are contemplating formal action - which is sure to come.

Which of these allegations are you willing to live with when YOU call 9-1-1? That the responder has been drinking? His meal was spiked with drugs? He abuses you in the ambulance? Which do you prefer?

They need to throw the book at those clowns and see to it that they can never be an EMT/Paramedic again here or anywhere else. Treat them like the outcasts that they are. They are not sorry, they are just sorry they got caught and if it wasn't for the people that made the complaints this still would have continued on to this day.(Glad they had the courage to finally come forward). This is DISGUSTING!!!! If I call 911 for an ambulance I expect professionals that can take care of me or my loved ones with the utmost in respect and dignity. I expect to be treated by someone qualified to do the job and to ease my fears and not be drugged up due to their food unknowingly being spiked. This was just a joke and a game to them and they and their superiors should have to answer to that with no excuses--I don't care if you're a political person or not -- this is completely unacceptable. They wouldn't want this b.s. if it was one of their family members. This rescue squad should also not allow anyone to respond to calls or even be on the squad where there can be any potential conflicts of interests. Sorry the bad unfortunately has ruined it for the good, but the ARS needs new leadership as well and should be regulated by the Village Board. Someone dropped the ball over there and things can not go on as they once did and if it means the Village itself has to get involved so be it--at least we can be reassured then that when we call an ambulance we will be in good hands not mayhem.

Evidently YOU did not read the article. What part of the word "allegation" do you need me to clarify for you? The non political state agency you are referring to is INVESTIGATING ALLEGATIONS. I for one will wait for the INVESTIGATION to be completed.

Anybody can come up with allegations and claims. If I got twenty people together that said we saw bigfoot walk down Main St does that make it true? No, you need proof. This was already investigated by Antioch Police who decided not to pursue due to lack of evidence. While some of it may be true, we need to see all of the facts here. Alot of this sounds like someone is digging up dirt on someone because of a grudge or vendetta. We have become a society were we jum to conclusions based on hearsay and word of mouth. Public opinion means everything, but it shouldnt. If these guys are guilty then punish them by all means, but how do we know also that this isnt something fabricated by these three girls?
From what I hear around town, they werent exactly angels themselves. One tried this at another dept, on was dancing topless on tables, one sleeps with any fireman she can get her hands on...

The Village of Antioch has a responsibility to protect its residents. They need protection from the incompetent and combative management practices at ARS. You can push back all you want, and will because you are some way affiliated with the ARS. Go ahead and deny that but the fact is, you are. I understand the Village leaders do not buy in to your rose colored view of the ARS. Butts were kicked tonight in the Board meeting and more is coming and more will be coming if the pile of dung created by ARS management is not cleaned up IMMEDIATELY.

Nope, wrong again. Just a citizen who is just as interested in the safety of it's residents as you. Unfortunately, you are one of the people willing to rush to judgement before all the facts are investigated. It's pretty clear to me and anyone reading your posts that you have a personal involvement with this situation.

It's pretty clear to anyone reading your posts that you are an idiot with no common sense. Let's hope you don't die in an ARS ambulance because of some unsupervised moron who you think needs to be given a trial by jury despite the fact that he does not give one hoot about you. You can sugar coat this all you want, but your buddies at the top of the ARS need to be gone and prosecuted for malfeasance. They should be shaking in their boots with their personal liability at this point. Can't wait for the forensic audit of ARS finances. Any issues there and you'll have to hold your good old boy meetings with them in a Federal penitentiary.

- how many people died in the back on an ARS ambulance because of "an unsupervised moron?"
- "who you think needs to be given a trial by jury.." sounds pretty un-american to me.
- "prosecuted for malfeasance" nice try at using a big word here but this is a private organization so they aren't public officials.

- "it's pretty clear to anyone reading your post that you are an idiot with no common sense" - pretty much took the words right out of my mouth

Let's review: 8 findings by the Illinois Department of Public Health with formal action probable. 2 former volunteers suing for sexual harassment. 2 paramedics losing their licenses. Lawsuit for breach of contract with Metro Ambuliance. No accountability. No financials, no personnel procedures. Rush to judgment?

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Virgo

It's a rather low-key day with a few disappointments to cope with along the way. If you were looking forward to a social event, such as meeting up with friends, it may fail to live up to your expectations. It might even be delayed or postponed through no fault of your own. There could also be problems about how much something is going to cost, forcing you to scale down your plans to make them more affordable.
