The music industry is OVERPAID and charge their fans way too much money. Charging us $75.00 average for a concert ticket is STEALING. How can you go from a $14.50 ticket in 1984 to over $100 now? Yeah Bratz, screw your theory. CD prices and average $16.99 in a mall music store? Please. The music industry screwed themselves. File sharing is the best thing that happened to music. No more buying 1 CD for 1 song and the rest stink.

Your gonna tell me Mr Bratz that you never made a tape in the 80's of mixed songs? Technically stealing according to RIAA. I'm sure you passed that tape to a friend. We all did it.

BTW, if you are a "conservative" what about free market capitalism--i.e. charging what the market will bear? Many tours with $100 ticket prices sell out. If you can't afford it, don't go. I can't afford a second house in the Keys, yet I am not whining about it.

There is some recent data that suggests that the music industry does not lose money from downloading so the basis of the fines is bogus. Essentially people have only a certain amount of money to spend, if you didn't download you wouldn't buy the music, so they have lost nothing. It appears gaming is taking much more of the entertainment dollar.

This was about CD sales. For several years, I would travel for business every week, by plane. I only met one other person that used a CD player. CD's came and went, replaced by the iPod.

The whole problem stemmed from a failing business model. The costs of the CD's were higher than the market would tolerate and executives colluded to keep the prices high.. A new hit CD for $19.99 or $24.99 that costs almost nothing to make! Rediculous. The recording industry fought hard against offering music downloads for a reasonable fee..such as by services like iTunes (Claimed it would destroy their industry.) If they would have embraced this model sooner the illegal downloads would have been minimal and their profits significant.

It's not right to steal but if people had not of downloaded music the industry would not have changed and Apple would not be where it is today.. We may have never even seen the i-phone.

LOL.. Not saying violating the law is necessarily ok, although there are cases of such that could be argued as historically socially benefitting thus now considered retrospectively acceptable. My point was that the industry failed itself by not adjusting to changing times and technology. Customers reacted in a (wrong) manner and that resulted in forcing the industry to respond and as a result society moved forward. More an observational But..:) Now to debate.. If I am stupid and park my car in downtown Miami with the door unlocked and keys in it.. There is a strong chance it would get stolen and that would be my own stupidity. It may be wrong but the market would have responded in a manner punishing to me and I would learn not to do it anymore. Same here..It just took the recording industry a million cars worth to learn better.

No worries, soon the RIAA will dictate whether or not you may have Internet access.
