A very dangerous community.....Dark Unpatrolled Streets,They run over animals for Kicks in that HILLBILLY HEAVEN
|

What?
None of those cars had working headlights? |

DAS: For the record, Loxahatchee/The Acreage is not a "very dangerous" community. I"m guessing if we check police records, the rate of crime is much higher in Boca than in our area, which is one of the reasons my husband and I chose to live in this area. It is quiet, we're not jammed between two cookie-cutter houses, living in an equally cookie-cutter house.
DAS: For the record, we're not hillbillys (and so what if we were?). The clear majority of residents are well-educated, law-abiding, animal loving (remember the Acreage is an equestrian community), and hard working people who care about our community and each other. DAS: For the record, our streets are patrolled. In fact, several PBC Sheriffs live in Loxahatchee/Acreage. It is dark; we like it this way so we can sit on our patios and porches at night and count the shooting stars. How's that for kicks? As for Ms. Woods, she bears at least some of the responsibility for her demise. She violated basic rules regarding street safety: wearing dark clothes and not looking both ways before crossing a street. I feel sympathy for the drivers who hit her: they must live with that the rest of THEIR lives. A sad, but preventable, incident. |

Dark clothes, dark skin, bad situational awareness.
Recipe for disaster. You should never be in condition white to begin with. The fact that she was on a road and did it while 3,500 lb pieces of metal were coming at her shows she didn't care or was stupid. |

Please get some help. You are a sick one if you think this story if funny. |

Lighting is the issue... Paying attention is the issue
|
||||
--I agree, a video of this on You Tube would be hilarious! |
||||
|
I see everyone involved at fault here, First the girl who was unaware of her surroundings that she would be hit, secondly the car that hit her obviously was talking on the phone or something to not notice a human walking, third and fourthly the other 2 cars that were tailgaiting. I see it everyday and wonder why it dont happen more frequently. HANG UP THE PHONE, OR PULL OVER !!! You punk kids need to pay ATTENTION as well, stop the texting.
|
||||
Good idea, but if still hit by three cars at 35 mph each, you will not walk away from the accident alive. I believeshe was probably listening to her cell's MP3 player, had head down and just didn't play attention. At her age, she should know the basics of crossing the street. Didn't say if she was jaywalking though, or at intersection. Either way: dark clothes, dark night and someone not paying attention. Sad. |

God what a horrible accident. I wish people in this state would pay more attention to traffic when crossing the road than expecting the drivers to see them and stop for them. Everywhere I drive people just cross the road like their god and walk slow as hell. Back in Mass (where I am from) we look both ways. If we see a car coming we haul ass across the road. Especially at night.

This was a very tragic accident, and I send my sympathy to the girl's family and friends. I live in the Acreage, and I do not agree that lighting played a part in this tragedy. The Palm Beach Post has an article claiming the girl may have been on the cell phone. Perhaps had she paid attention while crossing the road, she would have seen the headlights of the cars (the accident happened one hour after sunset). The Acreage is a rural area, and many people like the lack of lighting for various reasons. I think the solution to prevent similar tragedies in the future is enforcement of the speed limit, speed bumps, and more sidewalks. This would help prevent accidents during both the day and night.

You need more than professional help!!! would it be hilarious if it was one of your family members you are a sorry excused of a human!!!! |

This is the SunSentinel. ALL the stories are like this. Welcome to the world of diversity factored to the lowest common denominator. |

Always look both ways before crossing the road.

My sympathies to the family.
My cousin has a home in Loxahatchee. It's a beautiful home with plenty of room. Also, the houses are not on top of one another. Yes. It is dark at night. Especially given the fact that there are few, if any, street lights. One has to pay close attention to their driving. Keeping one's eyes alert for animals or humans crossing the road. I drive slower at night when visiting my cousin because I'm just not that familiar with the roads. |
