Need Help Finding Old Book

Knowing that I read a lot and am also a fly fisherman who has fished often in Wisconsin, a friend asked me to help him find a copy of a book he once read. Unfortunately, he could give me precious little information to aid my search.

After checking all my sources, including the inventories of antiquarian book dealers, and using several online searches to no avail, I'm hoping someone on this forum might be able to help.

He believes that the title of the book was "The Run to Gitchie Gumee" or something close to it. The story is about two old friends who took a canoe fishing trip down the Brule River when they were boys or young men and then meet again to recreate their trip forty years later.

Does that info help? Anyone got any idea what the correct title and author's name could be?

I'm looking for an old mystery I read about 20 years ago. It had the word apple in the title maybe something like one bad apple or one bad apple spoils the bunch. The cover was green I think with an apple on it or maybe the apple was green. I think it was about a doctor and I think he was the murderer. I know it basically nothing to go on but I'd appreciate any help
