Pills, Coke and Heroin are Pine Hills products, as are Gangs and home invasions. If you don't like the ideas that our leaders come up with, why don't you become involved and give your "educated" imput at the meetings. They ARE open to the public, whether or not you can understand the conversation. The massive amounts of forclosed properties are rampant all over the United States of America.(There are lots of articles on the subject with percentages if you have the ability to calculate the figures). Most of the people in Deltona speak both English AND Spanish. I suppose by your comments that you don't. And in conclusion, a head in the sand is better than a head up your a$$. Thank you for moving out of our nice clean City. We don't like uneducated dimwits cluttering up our communities and turning them into gettos. Name calling is a sign of a lack of education. Try looking at yourself. We don't like, well you live here and from you rantings and name calling must be uneducated and no one is telling you to leave. Hea dup the ass or sand all the same. It leaves a person blind to what is going on around them and they live in denial. Is that you address?

Sooooo, why are you singling out the citizens of Deltona? Unless you know more than anyone else in the USA and have a solution to all of the problems that you have pointed out, then why don't you just shut up and go take the wheels off your trailer. You are painting a bleak sad picture of deltona. Why can't you say anything without getting pissed off and resorting to name calling? You are no better then those of us you attack

Come on up here and find out what it is like to live in AMERICA !! land of the FREE, Home of the BRAVE. A place where we print in the paper all the little special things that we do as a community. A place where we print in the paper when we have lost one of our fallen heros and go to the cerimonies to honor them. We have parades, and a football team that we love, even if they loose. We have community pride, a college campus and places where our citizens meet and haave fun together. Kind of "old fashioned", but we like it that way. Sorry for you. What the hell you you ranting about now. Like no other cities in the USA have parades or honor their fallen heros. Are you for real???? lol the football team reference is hilarious. Like no other city has that either. A college cmapus out in the middle of no where with no place for students to meet and discuss things or socialize. Where is the place we all meet? Downtown maybe? lol Old fashioned denotes charming and deltona isn't charming. You need to seek some help because whatever city you are talking about could be anywhere USA and some of it sure ain't deltona!

When Farmton comes Deltona will be viewed as a ghetto. They will have the best of the best. A clean planned community and Deltona will be even worse looking then it is.

It really pains me to say that you made a good point and I have to agree with it. Buyers with money and education will look to move to a area that fits their success. Clean and well maintained with all the amenities that they would want. Deltona will draw buyers who want cheap houses renters and buyers and aren't into looks and won't have the money or desire to maintain housing.

Farmton is years, perhaps decades away and will break ground on the Eastern side. Why not just look at and compare Deltona to the very nearby Victoria Park, a nicely planned community that already exists and one of the few places in the entire state where new homes are being built and sold.

I realize Farmton is years away. I'm just commenting on how I see it impacting us no matter when it happens. I love Deltona but I'm a realist. Yes Victoria Park is lovely and Deltona compares poorly to it. I'm sure the education and income level of the folks living there is much different then what is in Deltona. I didnt know it was one of the few places in the state where new homes are being built and sold. That is interesting. Unlike Deltona where new home building is rare and many are for sale at dismally low prices. In the future I see folks wanting to live in places like Victoria Park and eventually Farmton and what will Deltona attract? I see it as something to be concerned about.

One could write a couple of books about what went wrong with Deltona. They were called P.U.D's back then, planned unit developments and there are several huge PUD's in Florida, and hundreds more in other states. Early Deltona featured tiny, 800 to 1000 sf dwellings, built to minimum standards and with minimum options for about $9,000 including the land. Northerners were attracted to the area by heavy advertising, sales dinners and the idea of spending the winter months in sunny Florida. On a smaller scale that plan would have worked well. As the small winter huts started becoming available for sale or rent a whole new breed of folks started moving in to the massive county rule subdivision and it took on it's first nickname, Deltucky. Imagine, before it was Delrico it was Deltucky. Before there was a high school in Deltona, the kids were bused to Deland HS and there weren't many Hispanics or other so called minorities living in Deltona, just a bunch of old white folks from the Northeast and a bunch of younger white folks living where they could afford to live.

It's true you can learn something new everday. I haven't heard the nicknames Deltona had and has. Certainly they are offensive. My question is what is the future going to be for Deltona? I have stated my concerns and believe them to be legitimate. Even if Epic brings retail to us what will it really change? We will avoid a short drive to Orange City/Deland or Sanford. I still see Farmton and developments like Victoria Park to be a threat to bringing educated folks with money to our town. They will have a short drive to utilize what we have. I see a city with residents that will need services that they can't help pay for. A city of low and lower income folks. Sorry but that brings things not wanted, like crime and drugs. It leaves the few having to carry the many and take care of the roads and outdated sewer system and septic tanks along with a list of many other things.
