I just returned from a camping trip, staying at Camp 4 along 22S53. Unfortunately, at the pools where the streams meet, the entire rock was spray painted "RIP JOANNA" with the dates "7-14-86, 8-16-09." I also picked up litter along the streams that equaled half of a Hefty bag.

For the first time in 20 years, I was disgusted in the way I found the site.

It turns out that last Sunday, this young lady passed away at the stream after having a seizure (according to one of the campers).

I understand a family is in mourning, I completely understand and deeply feel for their loss. But defacing the campsite was no way to show any respect. I now this spot is very special for hundreds of people each year but there's something sinful about spray painting nature.

If this stays up, people will not want to return to camp in the area. This is considered Federal Land and we need to do more to help protect our precious resources.

Does anyone know if the Forest Service or Kerniville community have a graffiti removal program?
