First, my condolences to this young man’s family.
The one Pocono Record story said that there were eighteen shell casings found at the scene of the shooting. Eighteen shell casing bothers me. Most clips (or magazines) do not hold that many bullets. If this young man had returned fire; why didn’t they find his weapon? There also would have been gunpowder residue on his hand. Two shooters could explain the number of shots. A fully automatic weapon could also explain the number of shots. Our County’s carry permits do not authorize anybody to carry fully automatic weapons. Somebody that brought extra clips could also have discharged that many shots. How many residents called in the shots they heard that night? Somebody should have heard something and noted the time? |

This was simply no accident this was an excution of some kind, after reading the story about this Marine it seems someone was out revenge. There are people here that know what happened but maybe the shooter wasn't from the area? Freaking sad killing all together. Screw up world.

18 at two locations. Sounds like more then one gun involved. 15 is a very common number of rounds in a magazine. As few as 2 pistols could result in 30 casings being found. Heck the poor kid could have been caught on the on ramp between two cars with the occupants shooting at each other. |

has to more to the story? sad all the way around for everyone.

Not a big deal on the number of rounds fired, you can buy over sized magazines for just about any pistol or rifle, in fact with smaller handguns an extended magazine gives you someplace to put your pinky.
Somebody knows what happened, eventually it will come out, somebody will talk, either willingly or to make some points with the PD over another beef. Not to mention that his marine buddies are not going to settle for no answer and I would not want to be on the end of that stick. |

Cabin,
I am pretty sure the police know whether or not the rounds came from the same weapon. Two weapons or two clips (mags) could explain all the casings. Like fistv states:“you can buy over sized magazines”- that can also explain all the casings. I just think that it was like somebody went to war. If somebody was carrying a weapon for self protection; they would not want the extra weight. Whatever happened that night; they were well prepared or somebody used a fully automatic weapon. I’m still curious if anybody in the neighborhood (of the shooting) came forward or called in when they heard the shots fired? |

Fistv,
If you make the first one count; you don’t need the other twenty four! All that extra ammunition could pull your pants off! Besides; those 45’s are too messy - hard to clean up (especially if you shot all 25 rounds)! Do you carry a pooper scupper? |

What does a 45 sound like? Does it make a popping sound,when fired?
|
||||
|
Also,does it fire continuously,with a short pause between each shot?

I have a preference of the 410 foot pounds from the .45 vs the sub 300 from a 9mm. I've always trained and used triple taps. Even the M4 is setup for that. As for carrying the extra ammo, it's like insurance, you may not need it but if you do you need it NOW, not later :-)))) |

I,m trying to get an idea of what type of gun they shot him with.It made a popping sound.

fistv,
Because of your military training you carry more ammunition. I still don’t think that the average person usually carries extra ammunition unless they have an agenda. This shooting just sounds like somebody came prepared. With eighteen rounds the DA should not have any problems with proving premeditation. Isn’t the average fire fight only an exchange of about three shots? |

Gelpen,
The police know what caliber ammunition was used. I haven’t seen any news reports with specifics. I don’t think of a 45 as making a popping sound. It has a pretty good report. Of course sound depends on were you stand (distance) compared to where the sound originates. It also depends on the humidity, wind direction, obstacles and what direction the gun was pointed at the time it was discharged. I would describe a 9MM as more of a popping sound. However; that also has variables. A 44 Mag sounds like a cannon. However; I think the worst handgun sound is the 357 Mag - you feel the noise in your bones. Did you hear the shooting and did you report what you heard? |

I told the police everything I Saw.They did not ask me what the shooting sounded like.It was a popping sound though.It was'nt real loud.

Do you know the difference between the sound that a fully automatic weapon makes and the sound of a semi-automatic weapon?
Thank you for coming forward. Others must have heard something. The more information that the authorities have; the quicker this young Marine’s death will have been avenged. |

Fisheye, If they used more than one gun,do you think there is any type of gun they could of used that would'nt of left behind shell casings?I don't know anything about guns,so this is a serious question.
|
||||
|
Fisheye, I was told that,if there is a pause between shots,it is a semi-automatic weapon.

Here is one web site that you can check out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_&_Ko... That weapon uses caseless ammunition. There are no ejected shell casings. Did you think that you heard more shots that the number of cases that you heard fired? |
