Sisters Amina and Sarah Said were found dead in a parking lot along Las Colinas Boulevard in Irving.

“Even at school if a teacher joked around like, 'I'm gonna tell your parents about this', she would like totally flip out and start crying like, 'please don't tell'.”

Friends and classmates are in shock after two teenage sisters are murdered, police say, by their own father. via KTXA-TV Fort Worth

The news said the father was angry because his wife was leaving him and because his girls were mixing with others outside of their religion. So he kills his little girls? Truly sad and sick. This guy is going to a deep, dark place.

Well I am sure mom knew but how do you protect something that is out of your control. God bless their soul. I pray that we can use this to learn that we never know what people are capable of doing. I mean this man was here in America and he did not relize his girls had their right to love whom ever they wanted!!! Read Revelations in the Bible it tells all that is happening to this world today!!!! God Bless all of us. To the family we all send out deep regrets for your loss and we are praying for you and your family.

I am outraged that these seventh century barbarians come to our country and bring their despicable "Honor Killing" practices from their Holy Book with them.“Religion of Peace” MY ASS.
Actually, the Qur'an does not promote, nor condone honor killings. Or for that matter, many of the violent practices carried out by extremists of the religion. It is, in fact, a religion of peace. Just like Christianity is. But when you see Christianity through a blinder, you may only see the crusades, the many forms of persecution, and hate that churches like the WBC preach. It happens in all religions.
If you want to accuse the Qur'an of teaching hatred and violence, you should read it beforehand so you know what you're talking about. Or for the love of all that's holy, at least look it up online.
Honor killings are a result of certain aspects of certain sects of the culture...not because of the teachings that true Muslims go by.

["Most honor killings occur in poor, rural tribal areas or among uneducated urban dwellers. "The tribal influence is an important factor," notes Nimrat. "Education is also important. Someone who is not well educated will immediately kill his sister or wife. If he has a higher level of education, there might be some understanding."]

when i first saw this story on cnn i knew that everyone was going to blame the "honor" killings on Islam. I am a muslim girl. and i can totally relate to those girls. i dont think what their dad did was right..i think he should be killed the same way he killed them. but i dont want everyone thinking that islam approves of these murders. Murder is a sin in islam, so this man is pretty much going to hell in our beliefs. the sad thing is that killings like these occur all the time and many people get away with it. i just wish that this will be a wake up call to everyone who thinks of committing the same crime...you will get caught, and justice will be served.

Well im glad that the Muslim community here in Irving came forward to denounce this, we have a large great Muslim community here and alot of people remarked upon that they had'nt come forward, I never thought it was for them to do so but none the less im glad they did, we have enough divide here now as it is without any more. May these girl's rest in peace. They were innocent girls and their Father IMO was no different than any of the other SOB's that take the lives of their children every year.

Thank you Evening Rain for your post. What is sickening are people like mike who perpetuate the Hate from an uninformed POV and then make the pain deeper to the families of the victims. It is disrespectful to Amina and Sarah's Mother, Brother, Aunt and other family members who have enough on weighing on their heavy hearts. This is so tragic. They were so beautiful and held such potential for a future of representing a modern Islamic-American culture that could have brought more good to necessary acceptance and integration than anything else. we all mourn the loss of these two children and hope their families can one day overcome their grief and help enlighten others on tolerance, empathy, compassion and peace.

It's narrow-minded people like MIKE who believe most of what they hear about something they don't even understand, that are a crux to society and any attempt to make progress in a country.

My thoughts go out to the family and friends of these 2 young women. It’s a terrible loss for all of us, they'll never contribute to society.

But I can’t stand by and allow clichés like “Islam is a religion of peace” stifle examination of why they were murdered by their own father.(And I feel terrible about posting this, I know I’m causing pain to their family.)

A literal reading of the Koran guides one to misogyny (by modern standards), violence against non-Muslims in general and anyone opposing the expansion of Islam as a political ideology in particular, and religion as state.

US Muslims need to take a public, vociferous stand on whether the Koran is the literal word of God or an allegory, and explain why Islam had no influence on this monster killing his daughters.

There are no “honor killings” in the Koran, but the Koran does say women are subordinate to men, husbands can beat wives, and that Muhammad was convinced of Aisha’s non-infidelity because there weren’t 4 witnesses (which later morphed into the sharia that rape victims w/o 4 witnesses are typically accused of fornication).

If this monster read the Koran literally, I can see why he killed his daughters. Most of the Islamic world does read the Koran literally.

Of course it has everything to do with islam. So called 'honour' killing is synonymous with that religion. Try living in the Middle East and witness the dominance over women islam advocates and enforces. Enough liberal apologist pussy-footing around this issue - islam is simply a dangerous religion; a death cult. Read the quran for explicit instruction on religious intolerance, subjegation, torture and murder of 'the infidel'. All religions dwell in delusion but some delusions are deadly. Islam is one of them.
