He's d a mn lucky hi lives in MN. If he lived in the Southeast he would have received 10 to 20 years. He's a murderer, he chose to get drunk and get in his vehicle and drive with no regard for anyone but his lousy self. I don't care if this was his first offense, he made the choice to drink and drive and should get more than 4 years. The people he killed will never be seen again by their loved ones. The law needs to be changed so that drunks who kill people spend a good long time in prison.

This may or may not be a miscarriage of justice, but I would not pick on the judge. He's bound by state guidelines, as the article points out. The judge can't arbitrarily give him more than what the guidelines call for, and the arguments in favor of doing so (that he's a chronic offender) don't apply unless his previous offenses occurred within 10 years. Read the article.

-A three-time convicted drunken driver
-that killed two people
-six counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
-gets only four years.

It's about time someone who murders a motorcyclist is held accountable - even though it's only 4 years. I'm tired on car drivers walking away with no punishment after killing a motorcyclist due to their negligence.

In 1994, my brother was killed by a drunk driver, the killer got 36 months (it was his second or third DWI), he also got popped for another DWI WHILE standing trial for the death of my brother!!

Even more disturbing: Restitution is rarely enforced for these types of crimes. We haven't received a cent for funeral/legal/medical expenses.

Once again Minnesota's ridiculous sentencing guidelines prove that if you want to kill someone, do it with your car. You'll be out in no time! Pathetic.

Sad...three lives here. Two lost for no good reason, and a person who didn't learn his lesson and now will spend valuable years in prison.

The fine Liberal legislature don't feel punishment is appropriate, unless one of their loved ones is killed!

Same with MNDot, IF one of their relatives is killed they fix the highway right away!!

It's called Management By Idiots,(MBI)!
